We had an Eclipse pocket door in our old place - seemed fine.

No bottom track but sometimes have a groove in the bottom of the door and a pin poking up from the floor in the jamb at the “entrance” to the pocket.

Cheers both! Defo helped.

DBR No bottom track but sometimes have a groove in the bottom of the door and a pin poking up from the floor in the jamb at the “entrance” to the pocket.
This is what we had when we moved in, but I ultimately made the only sensible decision that the only good pocket door is one that's been sledgehammered out of the already small aperture and sits leaning, broken, against a wall in a mould-covered downstairs toilet we never go in.

TBH anything we get a skip and we are pushing barrows we make a ramp of some sort

Hob in the middle island is daft imo anyway

How come?
As far as I can see, unless you have a huge space, island probably needs to hold either sink or hob, and if you go sink you then end up with a central display for all your dirty dishes.
Hob means ducting is difficult but if you can solve that, the room probably works better, no?

In a kitchen that big, dirty plates go in one of the dishwashers

Get out of my house!

For sink you've got issues with drains and can be a pain to pipe.
For the hob you can those extractors that come top from the unit but again im not a huge fan unless the island is really big for sticking stuff around it.

Good call on nothing in the island imo.
I have a particular dislike for corner kitchens - I'd be tempted to have one full run of work surface on one wall with sink and dishwasher - in proximity to bin/worktop/dishwasher and then a full run of floor to ceiling cabinetry on the other. But I think the current layout looks ok - maybe sink > hob could be closer? Nothing you can do about the awkward nibs ? Also quite a lot of different doors into the garden -

How come?
Aim of an island is to make peers jelly, no sense in commiting extra cost to integrating utilities, when the spend is better allocated to matching Mieles.

Not everything goes in a dishwasher and that doesn’t work when you’re cooking

Dude said they'd just lift it up and empty it.
Back to rearranging the rectangles on my diagram...

I mean i agree nothing in the island is ideal but it seems hard to achieve if your kitchen isn’t huge? But maybe I’m just being pessimistic

Portman is what I spec' I don't think they are the cheapest - but i wouldn't skimp on something like this as you want a decent mechanism esp if buried in a wall.

Oh sweet lord - still using the super accurate drawings I see. Putting the shower room there make all kinds of sense plumbing wise - and you'll get a nice big wardrobe.

Yeah they have been pretty much useless.
Doing the roof thing you suggested, but also a little bit less space up there than the plan assumed.
Bit of a povo rip off of this… https://www.studiohagenhall.com/projects/balcornestreet -

I like this one - the seating area in-between kitchen and dining is a bit odd. Sort of does well to divide the spaces but day to day its got to be like a weird limbo lounge- would work well for mad-men cosplay matini drinking sessions I guess.

Friends did this - minor snag is they cant run the extractor whilst having an open fire or the house fills with CO2 death. But let's pleeeeease not have that discussion again. I actually think would work better for you without a side extension - esp with the level change. Avoid bowling alley syndrome.

thanks (and to @konastab01)
on the garden door front - the middle one will (following long discussion with partner) be kept as a window, not a door. The bifolds (to be sliding doors, not bifolds) will be kept closed most of the year, just opened up on warm days etc. The other door will be going into mudroom/washing area/ etc, so more for utility.
Anyway, back on the kitchen - i don't mind corners so much. I think the top left area, between the island and the radiator, will be coffee/tea/toast area with some seating on that side of the island.

Is that the direction you'll actually be having your sink in or is it just a limit in the software?
I'd consider switching it so the drain is on the right, as currently you're going to be putting all the dirties from cooking in the corner on the left, then will need to lift them over the clean stuff on the drainer for washing, risking drippage or banging.I'm not a massive kitchen island fan but if you insist on having them, then no sink-no hob is 100% the way. Integrated wireless charger for maximum boast points.

just the software - but good point.
The island is needed here because it's the only way to squeeze enough worktop really. I think we'll have the space to the 'left/top' corner of the island with a couple of stools or tall chairs, with the rest being space for chopping, etc.
Does that help?
