Lombardy is a beautiful race.

Think you missed Belgian Waffle Ride?

• #44358
That was the first UCI gravel world series race of the year in Andalucia!
Amazing that Cam got to share a podium with Valverde but as much as I love him it's a bit sandbaggy isn't it...

• #44359
For whom?
-
• #44360
Are you asking whether Cameron sandbagged Alejandro or vica versa?!
I'm not sure sandbagged is quite the right word actually. I was referring to the fact that dropping in someone freshly 'retired' from road UCI races is a bit unfair on riders like Esteban and Mason. But then it's a UCI world series race, so Valverde has every right to be there really.

The Monuments are a bit boring aren't they?
I watched LBL but if the CiCle Classic had been televised I'd probably have watched that instead, it sounds like it was pretty mad and I've seen lots of photos of mud covered riders on Instagram.
Joe Laverick has done a decent write up of the carnage:

I throw my hand up for the team car…it’s not there. I’d later learn that the team car itself had punctured earlier on.
Amazing

So as you observed, what's unfair? It's hardly surprising that an absolutely top end road rider is faster than Hiram P. Shitslinger III, even at pensionable age. All this does is further highlight the gulf in ability between gravel 'pros' and real ones. Just imagine what would happen if Van der Poel, Van Aert or Pidcock rode against them, they would finish in a separate timezone. It's pretty much the survival of the fittest, thus proving the gravel specialists aren't.

It's a great race

Blimey, Rui Costa just sheared the crank arm off his chainset at the start of the Tour de Romandie prologue.

• #44366
Ofph, fired mechanic? Was it even bolted on?

Doesn't look like it from that pic, does it?
-
• #44368
Crank arm is still on the bb spindle, the chainring however... freaky!

Froome 146th, solid ride. Well he beat Rui Costa at least.
-
• #44370
Did anyone have Romain Bardet down to come fourth in a bunch sprint today?
-
• #44371
Personally I am more excited about Nys getting second

• #44373
I can't wait for him to be ready to beat mvdp and wva

As kids they beat his dad. They'll continue to smash him like they do everyone else.
