So, the derailleur hanger is a bolt/plate type that clamps to the dropout? They’re pretty generic I think.
For gearing reference, I chug around to-and-from the rental near the top of Hanover on a 1x10 that is 44t and 11-36.

Thanks, had thought I'd end up with a lower tooth count on the chain ring than that but I don't really understand gearing to be honest. Good to know that range works though!
Yeah it's a bolt on/clamp on hanger - I couldn't work out how to get it on last time I looked at it but hopefully I'll have a eureka moment if I spend a bit more time on it!

Finally coming out of the end of a move and renovation I'm picking up the raleigh MTB again to build a proper dad bike as we are also expecting.
Looking back at a previous iteration I definitely preferred the look of and trying to work out what makes me like it more

Need to double check that the derailleur hanger I have actually fits on the bike before I do anything as the longer term plan is to build this up 1 x 7/8/9/10 geared for Brighton hills.
