Pertex rain jacket arrived yesterday - can confirm it's a banger. Sleeves are perfect length (shorter than on the insulated jacket, which were a touch too long for me), double zip is a very, very nice feature. Happy customer.

So i called at condor tried the new light zoa and its true to size . A bit thinner than the the winter zoa minus the hood . The new lightweight waterproof was a bit short on arms compared with an endura a few feet away . Again a slimmer fit so size up if you run cold . They had no orange winter zoa waterproof but its the most robust jacket for the winter if you live up north. Plus their is a bit of of a colour difference.

We tried to make the tones different enough, so you could tell the difference in weight between the styles (remembering most people will see them online) but keeping a bit of the Zoa visibility pop in there. I have an v early lightweight proto in the orange (ice lolly?) and, as someone who wears black 95% of the time, I've really grown to love it.

Anyone have experience of pocket bib shorts sizing compared to Rapha? I'm a Medium in Rapha Core Cargo bib shorts and going by the Albion chart size I'm between Medium and Large.

I'm medium in both.

🙏🏼 Medium it is!

Late to the party, but also a medium in both - size is comparable.

Saw the rain shell (black/orange one) in the wild on Monday night (pissing it down) in Deptford. Was very jealous of the wearer as they walked by me.

Also the medium in both gang, and the Albion shorts are a real step up from the core cargos. the leg grippers are also nicer than the brevet cargos, and I find the rear pocket more useable - good for stuffing gloves etc in

For me it's a bit of a tossup between the Rapha and Albion pocket bibs. The Rapha chamois is more comfortable and the straps are easier to deal with. But they go see-through. I find the Albion straps tend to twist around a lot when putting them on, and the shorts pinch slightly at the crotch/thigh joint, especially with stuff in the pockets.

Anyone have the insulated gilet and can comment on how packable it is?
-
• #1216
Packable enough that you can take it and stow in a back pocket as a fat sausage, but you’ll need a large empty pocket. It’s nowhere near packable enough to take on a whim for an emergency (if that makes sense!)
Totally fantastic piece of kit though

How big is it in terms of tennis balls would you say
-
• #1218
You could scrunch into maybe one and half tennis balls

Got some bikepacking in Scotland coming up. Need a new rain jacket and the Zoa rain shell looks like it might work well. Especially keen on the hood. How does it handle warmer wet days? Is it a sweat fest? By warmer I mean 12-18C, not actually warm.
I tried the All Road rain jacket on in Condor the other week and even up a size from my usual Rapha size it was a bit more 'race fit' than I was looking for.

Can't say I've ever had it that warm and raining in Scotland. But in that temperature id just have a merino layer and a rain jacket. Then accept the merino might get damp from sweat and swap it later for a dry one when suitable, or it'll dry itself. You can undo zips but ultimately you'll sweat. So just accept it and operate with it.
The alternative is to alter your effort and march it with suitable clothing levels so you don't sweat. Ultimately I don't like to ride that slow, but it's a smart move, both if it's raining but also if it's hot and sunny too.
