Or chorus if you're a tart and like the thumb shifter. That's pretty much the 2 choices for mechanical these days.

Ordinarily I'd have said ultegra 11speed but the fact that the cranks de-bond frequently and that that is not an issue with 105 sways it I feel.

Nice build !

Cheers. Will get new tape on soon, as it's pretty grim. Always like to get out on it for the giro. Think I'll cycle it to marlow on opening weekend as marlow is linked with Budapest.

switched back to drops from the on-one OG bars, and a fresh wrap with a touch of BDHU thrown in for good measure.

If you come to sell this let me know! I’ve always been keen on one

Accidentally bought this. Unsure what to do with it, potentially 11spd record and a decent set of wheels

Didn't see the bike at first, wondered how you were going to fit 11v Record to a horse🐎
-
• #130886
Sadly the horse is pre-2015 campag cable pull and therefore not backwards compatible

Merci mec!

The 'cheap parts bin build' is a myth, isn't it? Thought I had everything I needed for the latest project and I've still shelled out well north of £60 on sundry essentials such as cable, bar tape, chain, new bottom bracket, etc. That’s before even considering whether I ought to swap out the forks, headset and stem. And maybe the bars...

This merely demonstrates the paucity of your parts bin. The trick is to buy extras of exactly those things when you see them on offer.

Oh totally. No such thing. Still tell myself that though, and to be honest gathering parts and planning the build is as much fun as actually riding it.

Hah £60?!? Bargain.
Try “oh the steerer is too short for my new frame”. Suspension fork steerer. Though semi expected…

Whenever I’ve intended to build up a parts bin bike, I invariably end up just buying a nicer set of cranks, better levers anyway, and the shit parts stay in the box
I’m currently in the process of just a build in fact.

It's where you draw the line.
That line though, is it drawn in concrete (cement is the right term) or sand!?!?!?

Thought Viv needed some Nitto parts, just need some silver wheels for it and it will be done

Had a similar problem with my gt. Some recommendations here: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/15013586/incontext/

Ah very helpful. So you ran it full housing? Hard to see from the last pic. How is it holding up?
-
• #130897
Viv's looking smokin' hot with his new Nittos! Wears them well

Looks great. And I’m particularly fond of where you chose to lean the grip up against the wall :-D
-
• #130899
Thanks, wanted it finished enough that I’ll use it over the summer

Looks great! The black bits help make the frame pop but you can't really go wrong. Glad to see you've still got this, it's been ages now hasn't it?
^ this is good advice
