Having done this route again on Saturday, I'm gonna give myself a few more weeks to gain a bit more fitness. I love how you've wedged almost every possible metre of vertical ascent within a four-mile radius into the route (though I'd be tempted to throw Benson Road into the mix before Canonbie), but my legs/lungs don't quite love it yet.

1. We wait at the top of every hill. There is no minimum pace!

I think we rode every slope in South London while refining the route, including a number of footpaths, council estates, private roads and on at least one occasion, stairs.

Benson right before Canonbie is pure evil.

Yeah, it's a git, especially if the traffic is such that you can do it without stopping.
