To cut a long story short, my only option was to replace the movement with NOS ESA.
Are they readily available?

Super cool. The minute hand sweeps under the indices, right? I love me some depth to the dial.
Happy Birthday!

No, the person that has been looking after my two hummers for several years had one available.
A few years ago a large number of NOS movements appeared on Ebay but they appear to have gone now.
Unfortunately the watchmaker concerned is retiring soon so I will have to find someone else to work on these if / when the need arises.

Thanks, mine's getting temperamental, goes through batteries real quick. Probably needs a service...

Any recommendations for servicing a Brietling Toptime? Inherited from my father, it's knackered - knowing him probably sat in a drawer for 20-30 years... it's from 1965.

Not fucking Breitling themselves!
Possibly STS although I know they can’t do modern Breitling. -

That’s a nice thing to have from your father.
A good panda dial which looks to have aged well, case - gold capped? - has no major damage in that view, all the bits of the pushers are there, and that may be the original crown.
Well worth a sympathetic repair.
I’d recommend Duncan Potter at Genesis:

However, I do not know if they do Breitling.Or Stephen Hale would do an excellent job.
https://www.shwr.co.ukBoth probably have quite a waiting list. And quite a price list, tbh.
With Genesis you book the watch in, keep it, and then send it in when alerted.Any good watchmaker should be able to service one of these Valjoux movements but in this case you'd want to be sure they weren’t going to cock it up, and that they would have or could make any parts needed.

Was my 30th yesterday and my dealer friend gave me this cute little Citizen, double signed with logistics company Nippon Exppress. Was very kind of him.
