Alright? My 130i is up for some big repairs - timing chain has started rattling and it needs a full new exhaust which is NLA so will be a fabrication job. I love this car dearly, it’s so much fun and so useable and the fact that it’s a bit tatty adds to the appeal tbh. With a few other bits the bill is going to be around £3k, the car is worth about £1500, I bought it for £4k 3 years ago and I’ve put about 40,000 miles on it.
I honestly can’t think of another car I would prefer, the only option I can see is another one the same, much nicer, same year but with only 56k on it. It’s £8k which is a lot but I could own it for 5 years before it gets to the mileage my current one had when I bought it.
Any suggestions for alternatives? The 130 has rear drive, it’s manual, it’s got 5 doors, a big boot, anonymous grown-up looks, it sounds tremendous and has a 265hp straight 6. Subaru Impreza is the only thing I can think of but the nasty interiors and boy racer image put me off.
