How much is a Brompton service?
I know that's a question with loads of variables to consider but... What should I be looking at for a 2-speed to be fully cleaned and degreased and made to work properly? Obviously I know I'll have to pay for parts as needed but what's an appropriate labour amount? Or rather... What do you pay at your local?

Whatever you’d expect to pay for a standard road bike imo.
Around £70-80

Ah right, wrong user, meant to at Hoke. ✌️

The shops I’ve worked at charge the same rate, but I’d say a bit more should be expected if the desired outcome is a full clean and degrease. Those hinges can get pretty gunky, and that takes more time and cleaning product.

Just a 'lil shoutout to Lunar Cycles for sorting me out with a great local deal on some tyres this week. Lovely shop - highly recommend. Conti's rolling sweet after the stock marathon racer rear sidewall shit the bed at circa 1500miles of (not exactly taxing) commuting.

Well, my ride home was a lot of fun, but either these four speed mechs are crap or Sigma can't setup gears to save their lives.

How was the hill?

does the p-line have a ti post too?

I just did this mod to my p line;
https://www.reddit.com/r/Brompton/comments/115gfx7/how_to_upgrade_your_4_speed_t_line_or_p_line_to_5/
Nicer to ride with an another gear, shimano cassette is smooth shifting -
• #13339
that sounds very promising !
-
• #13340
beautiful, you need IKEA Dimpa to take it in with you in the flight or the hardcase if you want to check in
-
• #13341
^my p line came with a standard steel seat post, think only the t line gets the carbon one
The 5 speed mod wasn't too tricky but I did need to replace the cable & housing... on a M bar the shifter gets blocked slightly by the bar curve but doesn't affect the fold, just close

does the p-line have a ti post too?
I don't think so, but I've not checked.
Am I correct in thinking that the supplied Brompton lights are an interesting mix of rechargeable front and disposable battery powered rear?
-
• #13345
P line has same post as the t line, I think!
Hybrid Carbon & steel. -
• #13346
Yup.
Odd combo. -
• #13347
Well... I'm totally gonna do this.

• #13348
Anyone looking for a ti post?
Have got the Jtek one from SJS like new, up for grabs. -
• #13349
Well... I'm totally gonna do this.
You could use the Archer components system and do away with the cable.

• #13350
Which length is it and how much would you want for it?
