• Opinions sought… I’m moving to Snowdonia with my family this summer. We’re living up a steep hill, about 5 mins off the road (up a rough-ish track but usually possible in a normal car).

We are going to need a car that can cope with a bit of ice and snow in the winter, and has decent boot space. I don’t want an suv or a diesel car and have a very small budget - £5k max.

Currently looking at the Subaru Outback c2007.

Anything else you would suggest? 4wd and decent clearance are a must, as is plenty of boot space.

    Thanks!

  • You're a bit limited if you don't want diesel at that budget.

    Subaru are the obvious choice.

If you found something close without the clearance you could always raise the height a bit. For the winter the right tyres will a difference.
