Whilst we're asking - what are the stands for the amp? I've been looking for something like that that will go on top of a sideboard rather than stacking things.
If you don't mind?

It's a stacking thing, but I chose very few stacks: https://www.atacama-audio.co.uk/p/evoque-eco-60-40-natural-bamboo-finish
It happened to be the only thing that took my amp with the amp being sideways, and by only ordering the base and then one of the right height it was perfect.
I didn't want the natural bamboo, but the dark bamboo wasn't in stock. I figured having a stand and keeping the cats off of it and dealing with the heat was more important than having the right colour. It just happens to perfectly fit the space where I've put it.

thanks!

Ha, that all sounds very familiar then!

If you’re ever down this way, for sure.

Thank you - yes my main issue is the floor protection, the speakers have spikes underneath which came with little rubber protective caps but I noticed the other day some of the caps seem to have vanished and the floor's getting scratched, so want to do something conclusive. Will investigate, cheers.

Warning, not cheap!
I don't fully buy the "audiophile speaker isolation" line on things... but hey, these stands are a lot cheaper than repairing/replacing a damaged floor, and they will contribute to happier neighbours, so that makes them good value.

If any use I use these - they're not isolating, but are cleverer than spikes. Felt pads stop them knackering your wooden floors.

Those grilles look amazing - like a premium factory option
Tannoys are MDF with a walnut veneer.
I'd have paid more for a real wood variant with actual walnut.
Having received the grilles, well — I wondered whether I should reconstruct the whole speaker boxes out of real walnut. I need to stop somewhere though, and this is definitely straying into the ridiculous.

I looked into building my own speaker cabinets recently and also assumed that solid hardwood was the way to go, turns out it’s not.
MDF and ply have better stability, less shrinkage and more predictable sonic characteristics, so veneer is the place to be.

Gotcha, thanks will investigate

Thanks also, will take a look

Gold standard cabinet material is thick birch ply, appropriately dampened or braced.
Can get away with solid wood for small things but it's suboptimal acoustically and in terms of best practice cabinetry.

Love the look of that Musical Fidelity stuff- the baby version of that amp was my first proper hi-fi.

The trend continues with more new but old 70's vibes speakers Wharlfdale Dovedales:

Yeah.. these ones look nice. I hope they sound better than Linton's. Was really disappointed by those.
-
• #12268
Not heard the Lintons but these have a much bigger cab & dynamics... also 5.5k !

Fits with the Ercol and cream cushions general beige vibes for the aspirational near bougie lifestyle of the upper age bracket millennial. When will midcentury die.

Going on the comments from folk who appear to know a bit about the sonic properties of cabinetry materials it seems you've got the best of both worlds, the speakers look great stock but the custom grilles are a really nice finishing touch

My faux Ikea armchair says no time soon.

They were just very... shouty.

You can get some hardwood floor protectors for spikes, they don't add to the isolation but they're cheap and they work. And my previous neighbors don't like Slayer.

Nice, they coaxial?

It was excellent.
Those grills actually look great once all in place. They look like C-3PO esque droids singing at you.
