  • Do you stand up as soon as the plane touches the ground, all the way out on the runway? If so I hate you. Stay sitting down and switch your phone on like everyone else, don't stand up and start opening the overhead lockers and make the cabin crew come over and be shouty. Drives me crazy.

(obvs as soon as the plane stops then get ready to get off)

  • Clapping when a plane lands. WTAF.

  • You’ve clearly never been on a plane that’s had two aborted landings followed by a noticeably angled landing (aka crabbing). Some landings deserve applause.

  • Ok then silicone....

I have all the tools know about the nuances of nib angle cut the all important flow rate, spatulas, the lot.

If you don't have the patience before you start that bath silicone job you're in a world of pain.

    Cunt of a job.

Don't even start on the removal of the old silicone before you begin..

  • what if the plane was landed by a member of the nhs?

  • Only on a Thursday.

  • Tell me about the nuances of nib angle please.

    DIY thread.

  • I know not a new one, but parcel force.
Tracked 48 delivery. It'll arrive by Friday. No, hold on, it'll arrive by 3pm Thursday.
Has it fuck. Still 'out for delivery' on tracking.

Now have to wait 7 days to complain to the retailer. 48 hours my arse.

  • Dogs off leads in places where dogs must be kept on leads and dogs in places where dogs aren't allowed.

I'm sure your dog is lovely and just wants to be friendly but lots of people don't want your dog around for lots of reasons and have picked that bit of the park/beach/whatever.

Also dogs running free in a field of sheep? FFS!

All of this, as their dog bounds up to you, their opening gambit is always don't worry he is only being friendly and it then runs off chasing squirrel/bird/sheep/some other nature it shouldn't be disturbing and demonstrates zero recall as it is screamed at louder and louder by its flustered looking owners or as it owners scroll their phone oblivious to the distress their pet is causing

  • The term, pulled the trigger.

  • Stress.
I feel like I'm stressed and anxious constantly atm. Way more downs than ups in life recently and it feels like it's just pushing me into a corner. It's getting to me emotionally and often (out of the blue) I feel like I just want to cry.

  • There are some quite effective coping strategies for stress, effective time management, meditation, exercise, planning, visualisation, sleep hygiene (routine, caffeine abstinence after a certain time of day).

It’s awful when it mounts up, but my experience is I need to do things on a daily basis for my mental health, so when life gets chaotic I already have the behaviours to help drilled into my routine.

  • Thanks, really appreciate the reply.
I could definitely improve my sleep and caffiene routines. Gonna knock drinking on the head for a little while as well.

  • Go and speak to your gp, see if you can get some counselling. Don’t bottle it in in your relationship (guess how I know that!). Talking, even on forums is good and mental health issues are more common than a lot of people think.
    I was told a variation on this tip by a counsellor to just take the edge of things immediately;

“ hold your head still and find a spot on your right and left side. Move your eyes side to side, finding those spots and do this until they tire. You will begin to feel yourself getting calmer.”

Make it so your eyes are doing a bit of work at the peripheries. I tend to close my eyes to do it. I’ve also had emdr for ptsd so can vouch for eye movement as a treatment for anxieties.

  • All of the above is solid advice. Personally I find ten minutes with the Headspace app really helps me if I get anxious/overwhelmed/stressed (with work usually)

  • When I have a lot of anxiety it causes me to wake around 4am. I've found either this or the world service quite helpful:

  • On a lighter note.

I hate that now I work in a massive office building I'm never able to christen a nice icy cold toilet seat.

  • Contrarily I hate that cold toilet seat feeling.

In fact I like to lay two sheets of toilet paper each side so my buttocks are cushioned from that monstrous shock.

  • Not having a word to describe the period of adjustment between the muscle memory of an old password and keying in the new one enough times to replace it.
