As a professional tradesman I can confirm this is the most widely accepted approach. Or just leave it to them entirely.
I know it's hard to accept but the larger the job the larger the finishing issues. It takes about 80% more effort to achieve the last 20% of finished quality. There are lots of reasons why the team who have done most of the work are not the best people to fix the final bits.
