Wow, not many can say that.
If you get a list up together, post it up, I may be interested in some of it.

Well, if anyone can tell me why Discogs don't send the email needed to open an account, I'd appreciate it! Applied for it twice, no promised email (address is correct and yes, looked in spam). Why do they not appear to want my business?
I'd really like to crack on with this!

Have you ever had an account before?
-
• #2105
No, I am complete noob when it comes to vinyl!

I have just tried to open an account with a different email to my usual account about an hour ago and have not received a confirmation link either . Get in touch with them:

Edit: Just received this....

Oh shit! Is that them saying the new email is banned, or your original one, or both?
-
• #2108
The new one thankfully, I can still log in with my real account.
Not sure why they banned the new one, perhaps because I signed up while routed through a VPN IP address??
-
• #2109
Wow that sounds rather harsh.
I wonder what sort of high-level fraud or scam they're protecting their users and themselves from. -
• #2110
Looking at the Discogs forums, it seems that there have been instances where fraudulent sellers have requested money transfers from buyers and then just taken the money and abandoned the account - I guess the measures are in place to help make seller IDs validated and traceable in those instances.

perhaps because I signed up while routed through a VPN
I reckon that's it..

For sure my mate had the same problem signing into his Discogs accounts from my internet with a vpn. I think he has 2 or 3 accounts each one for different types of music. I’m amazed at the amount of money he makes. It takes time but worth cataloging them properly. I reckon on average he sells 50 records a week from there. It’s his full time job I think he’s got around 15k on sale on discogs

My email ac is .co.uk and sounds like a commercial org (because it was). Maybe that is it — it has happened before

On a Discogs note: I'm going to have a bit of a cull of my 'for sale' boxes later, anything under about £3 is probably coming off sale to be donated to the local charity shop. With that in mind - I'm open to silly offers on any of the stuff on the cheaper end, take a look.

Made new application using Gmail id, all worked fine. Heavy lift configuring the shipment Ts&Cs but will be under way soon. Cataloguing looks long tho!

Just discovered that there is a Discogs Android app and if your records have a barcode, you can scan it and add it to your collection directly (if there are more than one release you may still have to select the correct version)
-
• #2123
Yea, often there's quite a few with the same bar code, but still this saves a lot of time!
Sometimes you can also scan the barcode of (a photo of) an album on amazon etc. to get an idea which version it is, as often the details are not in the product description.. -

In other news I finally got Moloko's Statues on vinyl and it sounds really fucking nice 🥰

Next Saturday, while the nation is celebrating the new king, I'm having a crate-digging event in a local pub in SE25. Lots of electronic music/vintage house/breakbeat/jungle/D'nB, funk/soul, jazz etc.
Location: The Jolly Sailor
SE25 6EB
6th May (12-4pm)(if this sort of post isn't allowed let me know and I'll remove it)
More of the former than the latter — I was often around Island Records and as a matter of fact spent a very interesting afternoon one-to-one with Bob Marley at Basing Street Studios. It's a pity that I got so fed up with the cover artwork of Catch-A-Fire (cover flips open like Zippo lighter) that I binned it. Can't be many of those knocking around now.
