I think the reflection in that pic highlights that junction. I think it's pretty clean considering it's a 1 1/8 stem and a 1 in headset. I thought the bolt looked quite prominent but the bolt has to go somewhere. Once there's cables arcing around that area it'll stand out less and everything needs clamping down which will bring the stack down a few mm and close those little gaps. The stack is currently only 1cm taller than my Genesis only about 7mm by the time everything is clamped up which can be fixed with a lower stack upper bearing cover if i notice it.

does the stem look funny the way the bit that covers the steerer is sort of out of proportion with the headtube? please take this in the spirit of nit-picking this thread seemingly invites!
