I like the reassurance of a physical copy,particularly with cartridges. Feel like they retain resale value better.

Yep, and I feel like I've painted myself into a corner with my daughter probably getting her own Switch in a year or two and me having to re-buy a bunch of games that I've already bought.

I had 2 switches (leant one to my parents during lockdown, then bought another one for my partner to play animal crossing during lockdown) and you can have a way to share games on different switches. It's less convenient than just buying the games multiple times but is possible.
