Any recommendations for Bristol? Had a quick look on Happy Cow but didn't recognise any of the places from the last time I was there (~2018) other than VX.

Got this vegan pastrami on the weekend, and really rate it. On a bagel with a pile of sauerkraut - very good thank you. Ocado have it and sainsburys. Also Ocado now have the vegan cathedral city stuff which really is good.

It’s banging yeah. I do exactly this and sometimes add pickles too :)
Their chorizo slices are pretty tasty too

It's good shit but a bit too pricey for all the time.

Yeah that pastrami is ace, I loved the double pack they did with the holey "cheese" it made a banging pastrami on rye, drowned in homemade Russian dressing.

Went to Gauthier in Soho yesterday for their tasting menu and one of the courses was 3D printed artificial 'meat'. It was just a tiny 1" square cube but extremely convincing and pretty tasty, I'm not normally one for meat substitutes but this was on another level to anything I've tried before.
Also while I'm here, absolutely fuck the Rapha cafe and their shitty service and servers. Despite a clear request to the contrary my girlfriend was given a coffee made with dairy milk.

My tenth birthday and still more and more ostracism against me in pig country.

I got some and made a sourdough with rye and spelt to go with it. It’s not bad on its own but got fairly dwarfed by smoked vegan cheese, gherkins, mustard and vegan mayo. I tend to think of pastrami on rye as being fucking loaded with pastrami, but as others have mentioned this stuff is quite costly.
Of note to self - highly processed fake meat gives farts as bad as highly processed cheap real meat.

Congratulations on the milestone! I've always noticed that France is unusually hard to find decent vegan stuff which makes it even more impressive.

Just wanted to second this - made this on Monday, I subbed the wheat gluten with GF flour and xanthan gum, so the consistency wasn't quite as it should be, I don't think, but the taste was spot on. Thanks for the recipe!

Heck are getting rid of most of their vegan sausages:
A British sausage maker has axed almost its entire range of vegan products after admitting that the market was over-hyped.
Andrew Keeble, co-founder of the company, said that the public “wasn’t quite ready” to completely switch to vegetarian sausages and burgers.
Heck, which is based in Yorkshire, said it had cut the size of its vegan range from around 15 products down to just two as shoppers swerved meat-free meals.Weird as they were the main feature on Inside the Factory's 'Vegan Sausage' episode last week.

I hope it's because of the boycott caused by this:
That's why I've never had a Heck sausage.
Any ideas for somewhere nice to go for a birthday lunch in Brighton?
