But seriously, do people really just select based on aesthetics without any first hand knowledge of how well the shower works?

Isn't that down to your water pressure rather than the specific shower?

Depends on the shower.
Power, gravity, electric.You can look at data sheets to get an idea of flow rate. Or look for videos on YouTube

Sometimes they pick them on how far apart the hot and cold inlets are and whether you can be fucked moving in ones in your bathroom and having to tile up the holes.

Really depends on the system you are putting in, if its from an unvented and your mains pressure is good you'll be able to put a giant shower head in and think your in a hotel.
