I've only had a Vita & Switch since my PS2 so not overly familiar with modern console game availability & pricing. But there's certainly a whole host of £10-20 indie/mid-bracket titles to choose from on Switch (less so on the Vita). Though on the flipside you've got Nintendo providing the first-party titles and their commitment to barely ever having any sort of sales.
I think the PS2 was also a bit of a peak in terms of quantity of third-party titles that were available at less than the standard full price. (Though I distinctly recall paying £40 for Croc when I got my PS1).
Do miss the days of picking up second-hand titles for the PS1 & 2 though, something that's been all but killed off by digital downloads. Also definitely feels like devs & publishers were less risk averse then so it was common to find some more out there titles (not exactly expecting Mr Moskeeto Definitive Edition to be dropping any time soon).
That may be true but I remember often going to HMV and walking out with a £20 for ps1 or 2 so the current £60-70rrp does feel like more. It's probably also because there's fewer mid bracket games being made and they're all so expensive to develop these days
