My guess is that their algorithms may be favouring material I already have in my downloaded playlists or in my cache. Years ago I read something about Spotify keeping stuff forever in a completely bloated cache. Back when phones had 4 or 8 GB storage people would have to uninstall and re-install the app to free up space on their phones. I am thinking that favouring locally stored material would mean a significant reduction in their server load.
Agreed, starting to think Apple Music is becoming the better alternative.
