I take it you are referring to my use of the term in post 382 above. I'm intrigued by your comment - what is the new meaning of 'roadman'?

My daughters sometimes use the expression to describe some lad who is particularly streetwise.
To my knowledge none of the afformentioned lads have ever road raced or formed part of the professional peleton -
To clarify the above for @clubman (and I respectfully assure you not at all a criticism of your dialect and its roots in cycling) - the current meaning of roadman is inner city lads, possibly but not exclusively involved in gang-related activities, basically.
My family tell me the gang thing isn’t necessarily the case. I’m not so sure.
