• Just re-read your first post and I this made me lol a little

Now, originally I was planning on keeping the car 100% stock

    We need updateZ

  • The chap who has designed the direct-to-head ITB's has purchased his own CNC machine, thus ending his search for someone to contract with for this service, so we've ordered two sets and are waiting for them to be produced. I'm (visa permitting) moving to Singapore and I can't take the car with me, so a good friend is going to look after the car in the UK and will take it to get the new engine fitted when it's ready.

  • Then probably not thrash the hell out of it round Donnington, whilst high as a mother fucker?

  • i did that to your car

  • awesome timing

  • Lols

  • do you have matching seats yet?

  • Please tell me you’re starting a “The flat bed truck with garden furniture for passengers that Toyota were too sensible to consider” thread

  • I'm (visa permitting) moving to Singapore

Exciting times ahead! I presume there won't be an SG build coming up next given the hideous cost of car ownership over there?

  • Have you encountered Dammit on here before?

  • ... it may have been a leading question ;)

  • There are a few issues with SG, number one being the COE or certificate of entitlement - it's a licence to have a car on the road, lasts for 10 years and whilst the price varies it's currently $120,000.

So, as an example, my V Class (cost to me, £46,000) would be $420,000 in Singapore.

My 911 would be around $250,000 in Singapore.

So! Whilst I'm not averse to spending money on things that I enjoy SG makes you really consider whether cars should be one of those things.

Therefore I'm wondering what it would be like to be wearing motorcycle leathers in very humid 38 degree heat. I imagine - horrible. But, I don't know.

  • Mesh textiles are your friend.

I’ve done dry 45 degrees and humid 35 degrees in mesh with no issue.

  • @Dammit This. it's so easily doable. Modern textiles are amazing. I've done multi day 40c and stayed cool. Obviously you'll sweat, but you won't lose your shit.
What's the cost of putting two wheels on the ground over there? Just because you always go 100%, how about this?
Thinking of doing something similar with the Niner.

  • What's the cost of putting two wheels on the ground over there?

A lot less than a car, but not nothing

  • You’d be mental to buy a sports bike like that as your first bike and as something for riding through a city. Totally shit for both.

Something like a Versys 650 would be perfect.

Edit: loads of affordable things in this search.

  • Fuck a duck! Singapore doesn't mince around does it?

I do like that you have your eyes on a Pani though; thought you'd go for a BMW GS or something.

@Soul come now, do you really see @Dammit on a Versys?

  • I mean, I once told him he couldn’t make his own garage doors and he took my advice 😅

  • Have you considered a bicycle?

  • Maybe a really big bicycle that I could put other bicycles and people in, in order to go mountain biking in Malaysia?

  • Well surely you weren't going to put bicycles and people on the back of a Ducati?

In Malaysia you can hire a minivan+ driver and go half way round the island, day or night, for very little money. Is that the same if you start in Singapore?

I know a few people who have relocated to Singapore and while some of them bring bikes, none as far as I know have considered a vehicle.

  • Cargo e bike with magura brakes

  • I can recommend these

  • If it's any consolation I'm just back from a week in Morocco where the temperature was 49°c one day and it was really still bearable once you were on the move.
As stated textiles are your friend as opposed to leather (although perforated leather is a good shout too) and depending on what flavour of biking you're thinking of going for there are plenty of options...

Why not take up motocross/ enduro?

Bit of a thread derailment, but whereabouts? I'm off to the Atlas mountain foothills near Ourika for 10 days in October.
