Apologies for the confusion….
Exactly as velosaurus said, I meant the top part of headset that slides over the steerer not the stem top cap.
Don’t worry it’s clamped top and bottom, just like on a Jones truss fork.
It just means you can use a plain piece of steerer tube of any length without having to braze a crown race on to it.
I just find the stock Bullitt steerer setup one of the most frustrating things.
The “easy up” stem is the floppiest thing ever and doesn’t even go high enough.
Do you have a picture of this setup?
I've just changed a manky bottom bearing on our bullitt and I'm keen to look into ways to better seal the lower bearing.
