I was close to pulling the trigger on PSVR2 until I read that GT7 doesn't have the leaderboard in VR.
That's a pretty fundamental thing to be missing in a supposed racing game.

The standalone VR option is simplest but - as has been said - the games are limited because the power of the built-in computer is limited. PSVR2 is going to change a lot for VR, by pulling in a wider audience, but it's early days yet. PC VR has the widest scope by far, still, but it's more expensive, more fragile and the wider diversity, combined with the fact that VR is still niche so the player base is small, means that whatever setup you choose is going to be less well supported. So it goes.
Recently, I've been looking at flatscreen games for which somebody has created a VR mod. Spent the weekend playing Firewatch with the Two Forks VR mod and that actually worked very well, with only occasional weirdness. Was excited to hear there's an RDR2 VR mod, but a) it's no longer supported (Game publisher objected to him taking money for it on Patreon, so you have to use a slightly old version of the game with it) and b) the dev doesn't like motion controls, so the mod delivers a KB/mouse or controller game with a VR headset and that's a shame. Games like RDR2 are the kind where VR with motion controllers would be ideal. But the dev who did Firewatch seems to have done some amazing stuff for quite a few games now, including Outer Wilds (and Hardspace Shipbreaker but that's a proof-of-concept and not a complete thing).
Some of the games which do have a built-in VR option are pretty terrible without mods. Subnautica VR is terrible, but the SubmersedVR mod makes it amazing. Sadly, that mod hasn't been ported to Subnautica: Below Zero. From what I hear, Skyrim VR is also terrible but the mod community has really excelled there. I'll probably explore that at some point this year but it looks as if choosing a good set of mods and then fiddling with their config is a whole time sink in itself.

Right now, though, back in the flatscreen world, I'm playing Dredge. H.P. Lovecraft inspired fishing game. Really good.

Yep, this was the thing that really got me interested in VR: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSRG-yZP3_Q
And this is the closest I can get on the Quest 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG-eHKdNzEY

This is my game for this long weekend. Been excited since I saw some of the early-access playthroughs.
You also forgot the blocky Diablo style inventory management

Although the nature of the game makes that a deliberate design choice appropriate to the game's nature/story.

70-odd hours later I finally got the platinum trophy on Hogwarts Legacy today. 600 collectables.. madness. I feel free!

Got the PS2 & wheel set up there and now playing through GT4, Auto Modellista & Enthusia. Some excellent nostalgia going on at the moment. Also, I miss when racing games had so many fictional circuits in them. Enthusia, as well as the GT & Ridge Racer games had some excellent courses. A nice change from a lot of the modern games with only real life tracks.
Edit: Have since just set up PCSX2 on my PC and all works wonderfully

I got a meta quest 2 last week, other than the obvious use for all technology that can access the internet, what can I do with it? The space pirates game it came with is ok but I'd like a proper shooter of some sort.

Not exactly a traditional shooter, but SuperHot is must buy IMO. Population One looks pretty decent too (haven't played it myself though).

Started playing Zelda breath of the wild again ahead of the new one on the Switch after having played it on the Wii U.
What a beautiful game.
Full stealth set early makes collecting and hunting easier, just getting strong enough to get the climbing boots, then I can get on with more challenging exploring.

I had no idea it came out on the Wii U
I've been meaning to play it again ahead of the new one but finding the time is tough. I think I spent 200 hours on it the first go around.

I liked the Wii U, pretty cool when you could use the controller screen for a minimap and other functions and have the main game on the TV.
Switch oled is very nice, happily playing Zelda on the sofa handheld (though with an accessory grip)

I too have the OLED switch - sold my day one OG Switch - and the difference is incredible.
Also have an accessory grip; makes it so much nicer to use handheld. -

I'm a big fan of the Hori grips, can't use them wireless but otherwise great

I just bought Monster Hunter Rise on Switch for train journeys, lost 2 hours today without even noticing.

Am I on thread-wide ignore? I can't understand why the entire forum hasn't come to a shutdown for a shared watch and cry at that trailer.

I have yet to get time away from my 5 year old who will endlessly pester me to get it on the Switch RIGHT NOW if she sees me watching it. Will hopefully have some peace and quiet after 9 to watch it

Wear headphones if you can - the music in the last 60 seconds is pretty... pretty... pretty good. My son has a calendar and is counting down the days until release. I've stopped taking on new work for the month and am whittling down projector options.
Feel like it would be a hoot to get the steering wheel out, VR on, and race some GT7, but I know I will do this once and call it a day.
