Is it just me or has Spotify gotten worse lately? In the past few months my algorithm has turned into an increasingly narrower spiral. It has become hard work to figure out how to keep my algo-generated playlists and recommendations fresh. A cluster of 10+ artists and and perhaps less than a hundred tunes come up in every playlist, regardless of genre.
Most noticeably spotify seems to favour not exactly bad, but arguably slightly bland, instrumental stuff like Khruangbin, Mount Kimbie and so on. I had to actively put some of them on the ban list – Badbadnotgood being particularly hard to get rid of. Also it keeps punishing me for once listening to the Arlo Parks album several times in a row, but that was years ago.
