  • Minor spoilers:

    https://www.reuters.com/lifestyle/daisy-ridley-return-rey-one-three-new-star-wars-films-2023-04-07/

The mouse has doubled down on their Jedi princess, against whom I have no animosity, I just thought the latest storylines sucked and the character treatment was ridiculous.

Might be interesting to see the story of the first force user, but could also be a disappointment. I hope it doesn’t quash the ethereal, omnipresent aspect of the force mythos. Not surprised to see that they’ll churn out yet another ‘new’ Imperial faction (Imperial Remnants) for the somehow still fledgling New Republic to overcome.

  • Star Wars is very new to me and I’m sure I’ll take shots for this but I started watching from Rogue One as I didn’t really fancy the older ones. And obviously didn’t bother watching attack of the clones or phantom menace. But I have to say I really really enjoyed them. We’re currently working through Mandalorian and will start Andor soon.

  • Rey wasn’t awful she just was boring. No charisma or anything interesting about her. Finn should have been a Jedi. A stormtrooper switching sides would be a good story. The Rey trilogy had too many trivial characters and subplots that could have been interesting but never developed into something.
Shocking they are trying to flog the last trilogy dead horse.

Ahsoka looks very promising, the trailer was great. Zeb was already in the Mandalorian. Ahsoka, Bo Katan and Sabine Wren are all powerful females, Rey is nothing compared to them.

  • Andor is really good. The most recent episode of Mando: nonsense.

  • Her whole concept was kinda crap tbh.

The first scene with Finn going rogue was amazing and held so much promise. Ultimately they just discarded him as an interesting character, and with it the chance to make take an amazing new approach to that universe. Like that annoying scene where he has to tell Rey something important, and then it’s just never discussed again? Terrible writing. I won’t even get started on their brutalising of old icons to make room for new IP.

Ultimately mouse corp just want to sell as many plushies and action toys and Legos as they can, so they’ve made Star Wars more attractive to kids and less interesting to adults (because it’s easier to amuse kids than adults, also times are tough and it seems most parents prefer to spend discretionary funds on their kids rather than on themselves). It’s partly why there’s loads of visually interesting new characters that have next to zero impact on the story (hello, Knights of Ren).

It’s shit but it’s working- kids love it.

  • Rogue One is awesome. It’s the first ‘adult’/darker Star Wars movie, stands pretty well on its own, and it resolves lots of loose strings from the original trilogy.

  • Rogue One is great, up there with ESB. I like Solo as well, but I accept I’m in a minority.

The Ahsoka trailer looks fantastic. Everyone I’ve watched it with, their face lights up when they see Chopper, waving his arm around. Wubwubwabwabwub!

  • it resolves lots of loose strings from the original trilogy.

Closing the huge plot WTF of "A New Hope" was resolving a loose transatlantic cable. It's funny, because if @Light_EDDed ever decides to watch it, there's a string of moments where they'll be just "Oh, yes, that's because of X" where several generations of Star War fans have been saying "Um, OK, forget that plot hole, we all know, it's still a great film".

  • The Ahsoka trailer looks fantastic.

Yes, so much this. Chopper, Hera, Sabine it'll be great to see them all again.

    Just finished S.2 Bad Batch...

    Spoiler

Tech's death nearly as upsetting as Kanan Jarrus in rebels.

    Overall, enjoyed, guessing / hoping there'll be a S.3.

Anyone know where I can get a Crosshair Plushie from?

  • The actor cast as Sabine looks just like the animated Sabine.

  • Great Scott! Didn’t know I needed to see Jack Black, Lizzo and Christopher Lloyd in Star Wars. Nice bit of fun.

  • From the Star Wars Celebration: Dave Filoni will direct a film that will tie all the loose ends from The Mandalorian, Ahsoka and Boba Fett.

  • Too much to process quickly this week. Might need to watch again, daily until next Weds. It was good.

  • Andor is really good. The most recent episode of Mando: nonsense.

Don't think I can see Mando out, it's so so bad. Might re-watch Season 1 or Andor again instead.

  • The last 2 are epic

  • ^ this.

  • Thirded as superb. May be great fighters, tactically naïve though.

  • Amazing, would watch

  • First two Ahsoka episodes are brilliant.

  • Excellent. Am geared up to watch with mini c00ps tonight.

  • Just watched eps 1-3 (Ahsoka, not Ja-Ja), delayed due to holidays, enjoyed,

  • Just watched eps 1-3

On the whole, yes, very enjoyable. Without spoiling, what was the Ahsoka light sabre fight in E3 about?
