  • Lovely 1992 900

  • A December 2021 car apparently. Would have looked better in green though. I'd rather have this than my Yeti.

  • Ahem... so I'm going to see an LS on Monday evening. Not to buy, the one I'm going to see is not for sale, but I want to see what it's like inside in person. The one I'm going to see has the 5 seat setup so no full ottoman, but the rear seats do still recline a bit, I want to see if it's still "luxurious" enough.

  • Great engines and gearbox (if it is the 6speed) but for smoothness and pull, not back in the seat go like I think your used to. Interesting to see if everything still does work.

  • Fuckin hell that new M2 is humming

  • Anyone else rummage through the hot wheels boxes in supermarkets for sick whips for their kids?

  • Yes.

But the ones they like are normally a hit shit.

I'm looking forward to digging out my old micro machines. I kept them mainly as they were so small.

  • The integrale is ace.

  • Shit. I shouldn't have said mirco machines out loud.

Now I'm procrastinating over getting my last emails out before the weekend and looking at them on ebay.

Check out this sick set I used to have. Less than a tenner.

  • My brother trawls eBay for the deluxe ones.
Got this for Christmas. I have to admit the deluxe ones are much nicer - they’ve got better wheels, much more detailed and they’re weightier. But I’m all about the rummage for a £2 classic.

  • Love a micro machine. Still got a couple somewhere - they’ve not lost their charm!

  • Yes, my son loves to go and buy hot wheels... Except he keeps choosing the muscle cars or drag cars. Always end up with 3-4 cause I can't help myself either. The retro racers Rallye ones are the best

  • Just been appreciating this parked down the road. Checked it’s not an MR2 and I think it passes.

  • Got home to discover the badge and radar unit had been pinched from my Golf.

Ends up being £1300+ to replace including parts and labour. Seems like an expensive thing that can seemingly easily be just yanked off without tripping the alarm.

Also lol at just the plastic emblem/cover costing £211 from VW.

I’m going through insurance so hopefully it doesn’t completely fuck my premium. The insurance company refused to tell me how it will be affected, which is super fucking reassuring.

Go through compare the market doing a new quote to give a ballpark?

  • Aye. This is on the street in East London though - broad daylight.

  • Also looks like three other cars have been done on our street lol.

  • Yeah we have a few, my group B collection in my desk

  • Those premium ones? You’re tempting me to the dark side tbh. Might hit eBay.

  • Looks like a large percentage of Mercs and VWs around East Ham are missing their radars today.
    Jfc.

  • Maybe they should make them like head units back in the day.

I remember my dad having one where you literally pulled the whole thing out via a flip out handle rather than just the face-plate.

  • Yeah all premiums. I have a few more than that - I mainly collect race / rally premiums specifically

  • Having to buy our first car as my wife is changing jobs and no longer gets a company car (boo). We're both pretty clueless when it comes to cars so looking for a bit of Hive Mind advice...

We're tempted by a mid sized SUV something like a Mazda CX5, Volvo XC40, Seat Ateca, Nissan Qashqai, Hyundai Tucson etc. It'll need to be automatic as my wife won't drive a manual. Budget in the £10-15k range. Any pitfalls to watch out for / things to avoid / models to stay clear of?

  • It is not mine but I do a lot of driving for someone who has a 2020 year Peugeot 2008. It is a 1.2 petrol, with the highest bhp (c150), auto. It is the GT spec, so is well equipped. If you want to hypermile a bit you can get close to 50mpg. I would not normally expect to rave about a Peugeot, but it is an all-round excellent car. Not huge. I am not sure about 2nd hand prices.
I have also driven an Ateca, also very good, but it was lower spec so not like for like.
SUVs get some bad press for being no more than little jacked up boxes, but they are decent if you are not too bothered about cornering hard etc.
Carwow did a youtube review of many of these, said they were all pretty good, and the Peugeot was the tester's favourite. My friend's lease is up this summer, and she will likely get another.
