Popular music.
Indirectly.
It’s responsible for a massive hike in the cost of Lego. Back when kids became teenagers they all sold their Lego collections and bought vinyl/CD’s whatever. Roll forward the clocks and those same generations are once again discovering that carpet crawling amongst bricks is the hobby to beat all hobbies and creating such a demand for old and new Lego that prices have gone through the roof. -

I thought it was just genxers trying to take everything good away from the rest of us.

Adverts, particularly from shed retailers, refusing to say 'hundred' or 'pounds' as if that will suddenly make their shit look cheaper. "Only 2-9-9" etc.

Coffee.
Specifically the proliferation of speciality coffee.
Why?
Because when I’m out and about and in need of a hot beverage I have to wait for effing hours in a queue while people make up their minds which bean concoction they want and wince my way through slow, deafening hours of machinery coughing and spluttering their way through the preparation process just so I can have a rapidly delivered, simple, perfectly refreshing cup of tea. -

Sounds more like you're in Starbucks than a decent coffee shop

We sometimes get young USA born evangelists preaching in Belfast, trying to convert people. Same idea behind it perhaps?
Now those USA evangelist churches coming across all huggy and liberal while being deeply socially conservative replacing old school Protestantism where at least we know what's what...they may genuinely bring people in.

I listened to a really good podcast on the boom in evangelical churches. It's fascinating how good they are at adapting to different social norms and customs.

Tottenham's stuffed to the gunwhales with evangelical churches, usually in old commercial premises. They usually have names of the form "Church of the Verbing Noun"... Church of the Anointing Hands, Church of the Ascending Lord, Church of the Shining Truth" and suchlike
Being mature adults, we amuse ourselves inventing surreal and inappropriate ones like Church of the Shuddering Jelly, or Church of the Demanding Donation

I accidentally broke into one of these once, whilst looking for a venue for a rave. Looked for all the world like an abandoned warehouse from the outside but inside it was all church.
Stole two litres of Pepsi from a fridge and fucked off.

Yodel. Fucking fuckity Yodel. Had my package at depot since Friday. Decided for no reason that “it couldn’t be delivered” on Friday despite no attempt. And now it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere and the depot shuts before I get out of work anyway! Useless cunts.
