E-bike time (or swytch upgrade to existing)? Gets rid of hill anxiety/extra distance and don't arrive all sweaty.

I’m considering getting a Ryobi cordless mower. The one I’m looking at sells with a 5Ah battery. I already have a few Ryobi 4Ah batteries, so if I was to buy the bare unit could I use those? I assume it’d just run out sooner but I’m simple when it comes to these things.

Is there a way to see a list of posters in a thread and how often they have posted?

Anyone have any recommendations for a smart saving app similar to Plum?
I had a really poor experience with Plum's customer service and technical support teams when my premium subscription stopped working and it was still taking out the monthly fee.
A shame as when it worked it was pretty good.

Chip (https://www.getchip.uk/) has worked well for me. They've gone through a few iterations including some silly stuff like fractional investing in collectors cars, but I think that was mainly when interest rates were low and it was tough to shout about 0.25% savings.
The smart saving and sensible interest rates, along with some funds to put money in seem a sensible place for them to have settled over the last year or two. -

Oh nice thanks will check this out!

I keep hearing people use the sentence construction "It needs [word ending in '-ed']" like "It needs fixed" or "it needs sorted". This sounds really strange to me, compared to "it needs fixing" or "it needs sorting".
Where has this come from? Is it from anywhere in particular?

Where has this come from?
I'm familiar with it from Southern US, possibly originating in African American groups but definitely common among whites now. Could be more widespread, I just hear a lot of south Georgia and gulf coast Florida.
ETA: https://ygdp.yale.edu/phenomena/needs-washed suggests I'm biased and it's actually much more common across the mid west than the south east

Yes, I think this is taking hold in the UK. Along with 'let's go pub' etc.

Further: "This construction is also attested in Scots English, which might be its historical source." which makes it very white rather than black 🙂

Was going to say, it sounds pretty normal to me.
Though having grown up in Belfast, I am not one to be actively participating in conversations around correct language usage.

That sounds like a very familiar Saarflandan thing.

Also pretty northern, with some places adding a hint of a t' pub.

Very scottish. As in the Lionel Shriver novel, Kevin needs talked about.

Why am I just noticing it after two decades in S London (and one in N)? 🤷♂️ Maybe it's the circles I move in these days.

I have searched, it must have been asked before but what workstand for less than about £75, PlanetX?

Lifeline. Big folding one that can support most bikes, or v. small disassemble-able one that holds bikes by the rear triangle (not great with Bromptons, May need hooks adjusted with a vice to fit in certain carbon frames).

That lifeline one comes under many different brands but they're fine for home use. They're the stands I use for mobile repair work as they're light and quick and easy to fold and they hold up to actual use pretty well, ours are cobbled together and missing original rubber bits and some don't have working cams on the clamps but they've had a hard life.

Client’s new L05 brake pads after Tour of Flanders. I’m thinking sintered Shimano for Liege-Bastogne-Liege. Any other recommendations for longest lasting (and somehow quietest possible) GRX compatible pads please?
For context, ToF was wet and very gritty. It seems one of pistons in the rear calliper stopped retracting fully at some point due to caked on muck, leading to the disappearing brake pad. Both sets were worn to the spring.

Were they new before the ride? If not then same again but check them before a long muddy similar tour. If they were new then sintered but they'll probably be noisier.

Also check the piston on that worn through one, would be surprised if the caliper isn't fucked.

I have this one and it's been fine.

That's much appreciated. Thank you. Though it looks like it adds a fair distance to the route.
I shall present options to the committee and let her decide...
