Lawson’s signature policies were bank deregulation and the fire-sale of Britain’s public assets.
Today millions feel their consequences. The soaring price we pay for energy and water just to line the pockets of transnational corporations is one legacy. The pollution of our waterways and beaches by suppliers whose raison d’etre is profit alone is another. The longest pay squeeze in 200 years ever since the financial meltdown of 2008 is a third.
