• Hi folks.
Looking for some decent carbon hoops, clincher, rim brake (either carbon or aluminium brake track) that'll take Shimano 11spd. About 30-40mm deep. Currently have a pair of Mavic Cosmic Elite owned from new - probs not hard to upgrade from those.
I am not knowledgable in terms of looking through the Chinese crabon sites, so some helpful pointers or links would be appreciated.

You're not knowledgeable in terms of looking through this thread either

  • Light Bicycle. You’ll prob end up paying the same as you would a set of Hunts, but you’ll be able to spec exactly what you want with better hubs. Their customer service is excellent.

  • Thank you greeno.

gbj_tester embodying the forum we all know and love there - thank you for your helpful words.

  • In his defence, it's literally the default reply; group buys repeatedly etc.

  • Anyone feel like recommending a humble 31.8 mm seat clamp?
Thousands of choices on AliX and prices vary wildly.

  • Thousands of choices on AliX

Is it even worth dealing with Ali? For £4 you can get a beater grade one from Halfords. If you want a good one, the BBB BSP-85 is available from all good shops and quite a few bad ones from £9-£15

  • If you want to take a punt on Chinesium, this one uses the same (i.e. correct) design as the BBB and is cheaper than Halfords

  • best bit of the youtube video for me

  • I love that the process of evolution in bicycle design is Cheetah -> rusty single speed -> aero race bike.

  • This one is even worse, at least somebody still likes russians.

  • With light bicycle orders you just have to get enough interest on here to initiate a group buy, if you want the savings.
I keep wanting to get some but never have enough funding available.

  • Has anyone had any success with wireless groupsets? Quite fancy one for my mountain bike but don't fancy SRAM AXS pricetag...

Unless theres a cheaper one on alix that i cant see, then gx axs is surely the better bet than spending £350 on this?

The gx axs kit can be had for 332 Euros from R2-bike, I bought one and it worked out about £360 including import fees.

  • That one you linked is supposed to be quite good actually, it's a Wheeltop EDS OX and got pretty strong reviews but I didn't realise GX AXS had come down so much so probably should just go for that alright!

  • I would like to buy a Carbonda gravel fork but they won't answer my emails. Any other options out there? Just looking for a tapered steerer with triple cage mounts.

  • It took a little while for their initial response to me and ended up in my junk email too. I bought a road fork from them a couple of weeks ago, the back and forth email was patchy but got there in the end and really pleased with the fork. I think the delivery was quicker than the email ordering process.

  • You're right, it's in my spam folder! thanks. I assume a reply to an email initiated by me would never go to spam but every day is a school day.

  • Anyone tested these ingrid pop lookalikes? Price is quite tempting

  • The cfo606? I’ve just enquired about the same.

  • Once I found the email it seemed to all go fine. Paid on PayPal this morning, just waiting for a shipping reference

  • Ah cool, wondered whether it may have been worth combining order and saving shipping if you’re London based but no biggie. Not come back to me yet but I only enquired yesterday.
