Hi, I've got the same issue with my 105 hydraulic shifters - could you let me know which bike shop you used so I could contact them please? Thanks!

I'm based close to Derby so unless you happen to also be here I don't think that will help. Sounded like this was a pretty regular issue for that shop, so I'd imagine most reputable bike shops in your area will be able to do similar. If you're in London then places like Condor, LMNH, Brixton Cycles etc will be worth a call.

It wasn't a 5800 lever, but a 105 hydraulic shifter. The ones with the big ugly bulbous hoods. Seems to be a really common problem with them that the spring breaks, but you can't buy replacement springs. My local bike shop managed to fix it by making a new spring from piano wire. The guy there said he'd seen loads of these come though and need similar fixes so was quite good at it by now.
