Yeah, they’re not cheap but they’re good value relatively speaking for VR.
Amazon has a deal on this week.

Probably a good idea to check what they were actually playing on first. I've got the Quest 2 (which has jumped up £100 since I bought one about a year ago!). It's decent enough but would expect it to be a fair bit behind something like PSVR or a decent gaming PC with a Vive or similar.
Also, the game library is nothing to write home about (and given it's all done through Meta's store, you're not going to be getting Steam-level sales either). I picked mine up primarily for Super Hot VR (which is excellent to be fair). Ultrawings 2 is another very enjoyable title. The Job/Vacation Simulator titles are decent enough too.
Also, also, the strap it comes with is very difficult to get a comfortable position with for extended periods of time. I picked up one of these which remedied the issue (https://yogesvr.com/products/head-strap-compatible-with-oculus-quest) but it's another bit of kit that really should've come as standard.
It's decent enough. But in retrospect I'd be hard pressed to spend £500 or so (unit, additional strap and 1 or 2 games) for "decent enough".
Though having a virtual cinema player is a decent way to watch films now that I've moved to the arse end of nowhere and no decent cinemas for around 50 miles.
Oh. Maybe they are after a standalone thing then. They mentioned Oculus.
