That’s one way to clean it

Jealous. I was doing that all the way to Devizes on the main road in the van…. The poor GS rider couldn’t keep up, but I wished I was on the bike for the lols

N max, PCX, SH, and the other yamaha are all decent. Anything water cooled 125 since about 2015 will happily sit at full throttle the entire time and not explode, yeah not fun on anything faster than about 50-60mph roads as its right at its limit, bit of a headwind or need to get away from a truck and you have no options.
I would say avoid buying ex delivery driver bikes, not really engine wear, more that it'll have likely been crashed, never really looked after, repaired with cheap ebay parts. Honda and Yamaha are kings in this market engine and variator wise.
With current used prices being so manic I would say just buy a new one, your talking hundreds of pounds difference per year in real terms.
Suzuki also do some good ones for sure, maybe not quite equal to Honda + Yam, but very close to those. Wouldn't buy any Chinese domestic brands or peugeots at all regardless of price, they WILL cost you more per mile in real terms. -

Id like to put a PCX in my scooter, but the amount on ebay that will have had there arse kicked in with them is mad.

Used prices are bonkers , very little available used locally too. Honda and Yamaha are within a few hundred of new prices. Seems possible to get a new one almost instantly though, not like long lead times for cars ATM
Without having ridden anything it's a toss up between an nmax or a Piaggio Medley currently. Would imagine the Piaggio will be more per mile though

If anyone is thinking of doing the distinguished gentleman’s ride this year, I’m thinking to do the Bishops Stortford one. 20 gruelling miles to North Weald (nr Epping). Of course that doesn’t include the blast out to the start or the ride home via the tea hut.

My now deceased father-in-law left this Light Sports Yamaha SRX 250 - it's fallen to me to get it to a new owner. Any tips for selling motorbikes - just put them on eBay?
A quick Google seems it's not worth much but it's in great condition and stored correctly, fuel drained etc.

Ok so I'm hoping the weather is good enough to clean and photograph the Honda this weekend. I'll advertise it for sale, and hopefully pick up a Ducati 748, scratch that itch and then get back to bicycling before the summer is over.
Ebay the best place for this type of bike? Or the Honda Four groups on Facebook.
What's the etiquette for test rides when someone views? Cash in hand or car keys?

Do a 916, go full fat!

I wish - they're double the price!
Semi-skimmed should do just fine.

Cash in hand. Always cash in hand. Some even go as far as saying you gotta be insured.
748 is a proper flip from this ain't it? I had access to one for a week and it was horrific in town. Out in the lanes though. Nothing but a delight

The wristiest sportsbike I've ever ridden, small but dense and very heavy steering....I've had a good few goes on my mates and didn't gel with it. The engine feels a bit flat and you need to keep them on the boil to make any progress. My old 900ss strolls away from it.
I'd love a go on an 848, I bet a few extra cubes makes all the difference. -

I can't say it was the most...natural bike to flow with. anything below 5k felt like hard work. Above, it just ramped up and was lovely, but the rear always seemed to want to tip out.
Been a few mate, how's Rotax life? Finished the rebuild?

Yeah, it felt very stable once you were into a fast sweeper but a huge effort to turn and you wanted 7k+ to keep it moving. Slow twisties were miserable. I wanted to love it, but the engine lacks character and they are very quirky and uncomfortable to ride.
They look and sound marvelous though.

TBH this is the way I'd normally go.
For the two bikes I've bought, I took out day insurance both times. I appreciate it may not always be price appropriate, but I don't remember it costing much.

Bloke who bought my triumph didn’t test, just stuck it in first and rolled a few feet on the drive to check it worked under load.
My new bike should arrive this Sunday, mate is inspecting/collecting for me, no idea what he’ll do but I think he has some sort of “any bike with permission” situation as he rides a lot of bikes

Reminds me of why I bought it as my first bike. Just looks so much better than most other 125cc bikes.
Got to love spring
