Both very good reasons! Enjoy the bike. I've had a cross check for 15 years and counting and they are super versatile. Swiss army knife of bikes

I used 35c paselas on my old one, slicks will fit fine, 38c Randos hit the brake bridge, slightly less clearance than a steamroller I think

Any Surly megafans looking for a copy of their famous 2006 catalog?

Why are you running a tensioner with those drop outs!???
(please sell me the tensioner)

So I can switch ratios on the rear wheel without having to faff around with retensioning the chain afterwards.
I hate retensioning the chain - I seem to always find it's either too short, or I have to readjust the pads to line up with the rim again, or shuffle the mudguard around, or a combination of the above. Much easier to set all that once and use the tensioner!
There was one on eBay earlier for £50 but it seems to have gone already.

I know I'd said I'd "finished v1.0" of the Cross Check build on the previous page - but v1.1 was cabled up last night, and ridden for the first time today: a change from the drops to Nitto Bullmoose bars with Dia-Compe levers.
On the whole I'm very pleased. Only remaining tweaks that I think I'd like to do at this moment are a silver Thomson seatpost and Brooks Cambium/Swallow saddle.

I have no idea?!!! But those spacers are made of real honest to goodness space.
This is what I was trying to add.

Nice, that looks fast! what size tyres are you running, I've got 35s on mine and tiny.
Excellent, thanks, any pics?
