Where are you based?
I'm about to go away for a few days - so this may have to wait until I get back.

What a find!

where on gods earth to you find them for that price? Very rare colour that, they often faded I think.

Ten ffin quid!
That vintage hipster-tax thing has finally imploded. Maybe people will start paying you to take away Bateses soon

I really hope so. Things on eBay have got silly expensive in the last few years, and very little shifts quickly as its all so bloody expensive...
-
• #4811
Very nice. Well done. What are the plans for them?

I've got an old Holdsworth track bike. That's being painted. So they're for that.
Now just need cables, tape, chain etc.
I've been very luck. That frame was dumped. it has forks, GB Hidinium brakes, bars and stem.
So it's cost a tenner so far. That's why I'm having a pro paint job.

Have you checked with on the retro bike Holdsworth thread about its age and model?
It looks pre war to me.
After war they were using head badge stickers as there was shortage of metal? -
• #4815
Yeah it's a 1938 model.
It was renovated mid 50s, and has a second works number on the frame and forks.
It has a metal head badge with the coronation crown above the horse. But it has the closer badge drillings underneath for the old brass badge. -

I certainly hope so, need few bits that are rocking horse shit priced. BTW you have PM if you don't mind me contacting you re B

Great project though im not sure i would be repainting it but I suppose it all depends what your going to use the bike for. What colour were you thinking off and may i ask where your going to get it sprayed
-
• #4821
The image flatters it's condition. The colour I've gone for is Eau de nil ref BS216.
Colour tech have painted it after repairing the pitting.
As for use, well it fell my way. It certainly wont be a daily bike. Probably for summer days and events. -
• #4822
Fair enough. Looking forward to seeing it once painted. Dave at colourtech is good.
-
• #4823
This is probably a daft idea, but given the vintage, why not polish it and DIY Copper plate it ?
-
• #4824
It's done now, just can't get to it for a while yet. It really did need work, Dave at Colour Tech really went to town on it.

Don't know much about this era but thought this could be of interest to some in this thread:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125844175778
Seller says 1949 Hobbs, seems to be going cheap.
Thanks and yes, one day will do start on this, need to learn. The issue is with spoke lengths as thyere is not much info on 50s or older hubs & rims unless I'm missing something?
