Still plenty second hand stuff going around

None. New bike time!
More seriously: forks aren’t really made with a straight steerer anymore so you’d likely need to find a lightly used or NOS older fork. Hard to find. Or if you want to get bouncy, get a modern hardtail with modern geometry and specs etc

How about this;

What are the brake levers?

& @si_mon628 useful to know, ta.

On that Recon Silver note there's these in the classifieds:

Yes, and @sacredhart already messaged me but I am not in the UK anymore so I am unsure whether it's worth it.
Thank you both though! -

The issue is more that you mess up the geo by raising the front so much
-
• #187
Haha "geo" for me mtbing is meaningless as I'm a cretin off-road.
This would be for LOLs rather than serious stuff.

On an inbred v-brake frame that has horizontal dropouts could these be used to enable disc brake and wheels?

The answer is in the description, does the frame have the Swap-Out dropout system ?
-
• #190
I couldn't find anything showing what a swapout dropout frame looks like - but here is a close up of the dropouts on the frame I am considering.
UPDATE: I asked the guys at Planet-X/On-One and they confirmed that the frame, "is a singlespeed specific frame, so isn't compatible with the swapout system unfortunately. It's cantilever only, so won't accept disc brakes."

What size you after? There’s a disc one on the ‘bay at the moment with carbon forks that looks like a similar size to the one you’ve posted above
-
• #192
Size wise I ride a 54/M in road bikes, which I believe translates as a medium (18"). I think the 29er on the 'bay is a 19" - but I'll take a look. I have some left over components (and 26" disc wheelset) from an old mtb which I could re-use - so looking at 26" based frame at the moment

just for the record.
this is how these interchangeable dropouts look like

Ah ok, that makes sense. I’m in the process of persuading myself I need an inbred. I want something I can set up SS but also potentially put gears on at a some point. It may end up replacing my rad-dad rockhopper 26er so needs to be vaguely utility-adjacent or something. I’ve got an eye on an inbred in my size (16”) with slot dropouts that fits the bill.

As above, I appear to have convinced myself I need a rigid 29er type of thing. Other than inbred, what should I be looking at? I’ve seen a couple of charge cookers for sale, but ideal I wanted something SS-able without an eccentric BB

Why not EBB?

No good reason really - I have zero experience of them and had a notion of them being something else that could go wrong in some way - vague memories of people complaining about the locking bolt threads stripping or whatever.
Inbred does seem to be the cheap option, and also the one I'd probably lean towards regardless. Just got to find one in small.

I'm torn between either a 26er in 18" or a 29er in 16". Both are in my size range (I'm just over 5'9 with a 31" inside leg)

I am picking one up on (good) Friday. Excited!
Halo have got a decent range
