I can, with some confidence, tell you that my palate is not sufficiently sensitive enough to tell them apart. I think I will stick with the store bought for now. YMMV
To be honest I'm pretty much the same, I could tell them apart, but the difference is nowhere near as stark as when brewed in a V60/Aeropress or as espresso. Felt like a waste using good beans as cold brew definitely mellows out the flavours IME.
Quick update on my Hario Muzidashi. It is awesome and makes good coffee.
After playing around with making cold brew with both my usual coffee and the store bought pre-ground, I can, with some confidence, tell you that my palate is not sufficiently sensitive enough to tell them apart. I think I will stick with the store bought for now. YMMV.
