• Right so on to current bike stuff. I decided to shelve the Trailbreaker and 3spd Pedal Berlin at my parents place for the time being, allowing me to clear some space in the shed and get working on bikes.

The first project is this Hardrock, which I believe is a 1998 A1. Not too bad of a condition, intact with brand new tyres it only set me back $100 on Marketplace.

It is a 21" frame which has me a little worried (at 187cms tall I prefer 22/23in frames), it will fit but I will have a lot of seatpost and bar situation to deal with.

I bought these Hsing Ling bars from my LBS and have ordered a silver stem of aliexpress in the same dimensions as the kalloy fitted, test fit showing how it will come together.

The shifters are farcked, so have bought some Deore thumbies from retro MTB group on FB, plan is to do the bar/stem swap, clean it up a bit, pop on the thumbies and some Oury's and go ride it around my local trails & see how it feels.

If it's no good, then I guess I'll flog it and go crawling back to the Shogun (who is a 23" boi, but has a damn 28.6mm quill stem)
