Trying to sort somewhere for my birthday next month, any suggestions in the east area? Doesn't have to be a tasting menu by any means; Cafe Cecilia, Brat and Rochelle Canteen are off as you seemingly can't get a table - I blame the Timeout Top 50 list for this
Going through their list now has anyone been to Shankey's? Indian/Irish fusion sounds rather tempting to be honest...

The above just reminded me that I went to Muse, the Tom Aikens place, last month for a birthday lunch. Only booked a few days in advance as I had a late change of mind.
Was very good. Went for the shorter menu as it was lunch which seemed good value (relatively speaking). Really good service, including Tom Aikens actually in the kitchen and bringing a few dishes out, and nice atmosphere there.

Can you get a st Bart’s res? Brutto? Or do you want more east?
-
• #1706
Could do St Barts, but they're putting they're prices up to £140 a head from start of April. Lunch isn't a baaaad shout

I enjoyed Brutto but its pretty much like for like of a Florence trattoria with 4x prices if you can stomach that.

Think if we're doing Italian then we'd probably try Manteca - only heard good things

That looks nice, Bancone too

Cheers to whoever recommended Dim Sum Duck in Kings Cross Road. Very tasty dim sum, would duck in again.

Need a restaurant for my Dad's 70th in July. Will be on a Sunday, party of 7 including a 10 year old. My top choice would be Berners Tavern as food and service are great and it's a really nice space, feels special when you walk in. However, I already played the Berners card a few years ago.
Ideas on places that tick the same boxes as Berners welcome. Rule out any achingly hip places full of influencers, super dark or excessively loud places.

Hawksmoor ticks quite a few of your boxes?

Does indeed, that's the safe option!

Sweetings

Their sunday roast is genuinely incredible.

Luca, river cafe, rochelle canteen, St.John, Bouchon Racine, St Barts...
-

I wouldn’t have Sweetings as suitable for a birthday party, good as it is. I don’t even think it’s open at weekend’s.

Trivet, London Bridge?
Avoid! It's awful. Vastly overpriced with terrible service. Food was OK.

Bellanger
These taco guys were top notch at their old haunt in Wood Street Market, opening their new joint soon on Leytonstone High Road
