N max, PCX, SH, and the other yamaha are all decent. Anything water cooled 125 since about 2015 will happily sit at full throttle the entire time and not explode, yeah not fun on anything faster than about 50-60mph roads as its right at its limit, bit of a headwind or need to get away from a truck and you have no options.
I would say avoid buying ex delivery driver bikes, not really engine wear, more that it'll have likely been crashed, never really looked after, repaired with cheap ebay parts. Honda and Yamaha are kings in this market engine and variator wise.
With current used prices being so manic I would say just buy a new one, your talking hundreds of pounds difference per year in real terms.
Suzuki also do some good ones for sure, maybe not quite equal to Honda + Yam, but very close to those. Wouldn't buy any Chinese domestic brands or peugeots at all regardless of price, they WILL cost you more per mile in real terms.
I'm thinking of taking my CBT and buying a 125 scooter for general commuting and run about duties.
I'd like some advice on what bike and kit I'd need, What should I be looking for ?
I'd like a decent amount of storage , reasonable power (so far as possible for a 125).
I'll be commuting 7 miles each way, and will also use it as an around town run about. I'd do the occasional longer trip, and anticipate I'll end up on a dual carriageway once in a while. Vast majority of time will be on city streets though. I'm 6ft, long ish legs and heavy at 95kg.
Would like something cheap to run, reliable etc.
Scooter will be garaged when at home , so no need for covers/ ground anchors
