Seems silly, maybe. Also…the geometry looks really nice to my eye and based on what I like to ride these days. Is it just a fancy hybrid? Yes. Will it probably be pretty fun/nice to ride? I bet it will. I bet it sells, too.

But are you thinking like thinner tyres tend to be faster? Because I'm a Jan Heine wanker and I take issue with that. If width doesn't matter, then it'd be just as good/better to run two balloons, the front knobby?

I don't think I said that. I said I choose different front and rear tyres to optimise different things.
On my TT bike I have a skinnier tyre on the front - aero
On my gravel bike or MTB I typically have a knobbier/wider tyre on front to increase grip. It's all going to depend on what you're riding on, how fast you're going, what wheels you have, etc.

Key question for most Crust owners is "what width looks best on instagram?"

I actually posted my shitbox on Insta the other day
https://www.instagram.com/p/CqAYaoVMUpP/Everything is mismatched, nothing is lined up, no shits were given other than "ooh pretty yellow flowers are everywhere here"
Oh and I'm wondering how long this will hold. Weeping in maybe 4 places now but this one's the biggest cut https://www.instagram.com/p/CqCz3ikMBiO/

Free Jeroboam of fizz to each finisher?

I wish. There was some horrible Italian liquer in the goodie bag but no bubbles.
We did get breakfast bubbles at our hotel in Port de Pollença though

I don’t use Instagram. And the answer is 47.99c.

I have a 40c front 35c back (mainly due to tight rear clearance). My reasoning is mostly that bigger front tire can be run at lower pressures and acts sort of like a suspension fork. I think I had a something between 45c and 50c in the front once on that bike, but that was too balooney and felt sluggish. 40-42 is pretty nice though.

I agree with what's been said about mixing tyre sizes but this worked well for the winter too, with a 2,25" Racing Ralph at the back and 50 mm Rambler on the front. When the most common reasons why you can't keep moving are that you sink in too deep or can't get enough traction to push forward, in snow or whatever there is, the mtb rear tyre helped with that. The height of the tyre is actually smaller than advertised though. What's on the front didn't matter that much and this was enough, though I would've used a bigger one if the fork allowed.

I'll let you know. I've not ridden it yet.
I bought it second hand so saved myself a good chunk of change which made it easier to stomach I guess. It needs to be on the steerer so you can push it down to reinstall the pre-load wedge. There's a good install video with all the details you need (except the weights/elastomer scale)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yCFq4Y8Nms
I've got a 90+50 elstomer installed and on the drops it doesn't move much but it's very obvious when you lean on the ends of the aerobars that you have some squish in the bars. They apparently get a bit squishier after a bit of use so I might end up going upwards in elastomers if it's too squishy (90+60, 90+70 and 90+80 still to go towards stiffer)
