I know ascribing logic to luxury purchases is a fools erand, but it's also crazy that people are paying more for a mass produced steel sports watch that RRP's for <£10k (and should probably be valued at £5-7k 2nd hand) than for a white gold Saxonia Dual Time.
IMO as a way of managing two time zones it is also a superior design.

I agree the shit out of this.
Old money / new money innit.

Why not something else than a Rolex? So many great options in that price range

white gold Saxonia Dual Time
A watch I didn't know existed.

And is around 20k on Chrono24 - so, more than the GMT and twice the Explorer II.

It's nice mind.

Do it

Its a only little more expensive than a Master gmt thats double rrp if the twice rrp is the hardest bit to swallow. Those C24 prices are close to the original rrp for the Saxiona so better value if a 20k watch can be?

frameset 3600 dorrahhhh .... daring job for sure....
-
• #70761
My quick search said £12-15k used and I thought we were saying $25k for a GMT now.

All the Saxon Dual Times on Chrono24 are in the 20k GBP range, GMT's are around 15k GBP in general.

Vast quality difference though (at least in terms of handcraft and finishing). And a solid gold case.
You can also get previous generation Vacheron Overseas Dual Times for about 15k, but I don't like the design of those all that much.

Bear in mind there are two main versions of the Saxonia Dual Time - the earlier 38.5mm one (which has the ALS name across the centre of the watch) and the later 40mm one (with the name at 12 o'clock). The earlier version seems to be a little less expensive.

Cool.
But we've reach a concensus though right?
GTM is off the table and now Dammit's choice is between an Explorer II or the Lange. 👍

This is rather nice. I do still fancy the 40mm pistachio variant too.

I thought the blue one on the bracelet looked pretty good. Not really my thing but nicely done.
The 40mm pistachio one is great. My only issue with it is that the click of the pushers is weirdly unsatisfying.

Quite like the new) longines spirit flyback just out
Decent size at 42mm

Yeah also nice, and while I like what they’ve done with the square dot theme I’m not sure if it works too well with the diamond-shaped hour markers.

Today is a Monaco kind of day.

This. Would have been nicer to just have hour markers just follow the minute markers but with a slight elongation. Keep it simple.
Otherwise it's pretty nice that.

Yeah, also just spec-wise it’s quite impressive for the money by current price standards. Flyback, column wheel, 100m WR.

It also looks nicest on a steel bracelet imo but the internal polished bevels are horrible. So unnecessary.

Oooh this is exciting - in my entirely unbiased opinion, you should deffo get the Explorer II. Mind you, i sat on a list for 3 years to no avail and ended up going grey, but at least the mark up is way less than for the GMTs (and getting even less now as the market's softening).

Like that - getting slight Breguet XXI vibes, although the square indicators on the bezel look a bit like they were all white once but have lost their fillings.
Another unpopular opinion, but if everyone could buy one at retail then they'd still be viewed as a bit dull and old fashioned.
Remember back when we almost reached parity between vintage Tudor and 2nd hand Rolex subs?
