Hmm, you thought right - in fact he has a 'taxpayer-funded legal team' according to the BBC.

I guess it might be different for Privileges as he can be suspended or even expelled from Parliament (in theory) but most committees are definitely toothless watchdogs. I fear @moocher is right unfortunately.

I might not be. I am pretty sure he applied to have counsel representation ages ago. Now I am doubting my conclusion of what came of it.

I think he applied for Pannick to be able to answer questions on his behalf during the session which was refused, but they ended up compromising on him being able to consult with legal team during it.
