  • That looks pretty good and yeah quite reasonable compared to Patagonia. Hard to tell exactly from the photos but packability looks pretty similar.

  • Similair to above, Any recs for a synthetic down gilet?
    Thanks

  • Although not “fashion” decathlon is unrivalled.

  • Guess Arc'teryx is fashion and the outlook is worth a look. Picked up the Atom SL hoody from there, the vest might be worth a look. They are snythetic with the SL stuff being on the lighter side.

  • No post on here in a long time, 10kg weight loss has resuscitated an interest in fashion… enjoyed the discussion of age-appropriate sweaters but what’s the cut off for dungarees (I know controversial)? I have always enjoyed wearing them in my twenties and carharrt and dickies make some nice and affordable ones

    Any recommendations welcome!

  • I wouldn’t wear them but don’t see why you couldn’t as part of a nice outfit. Once you have a jumper over the top I don’t suppose they’re much different silhouette to many work pants. I think you’d be hard pressed to turn them into a smart outfit but for most other occasions should be fine

  • I’ve never actually worn a pair that I can remember - what’s the benefits?

  • Nigel Cabourn vibes?

  • No builder's bum.

  • Picked up the Atom SL hoody

How are you getting on with this? I'm looking for a mild day commuting jacket and something i can do shortish runs in. Trino SL is apparently the one but has been out of stock for ages. Squamish looks a bit weedy for commuting in.

It's brilliant. I like the skinny fit, packs small and can ride, hike or wear around the house but operating temps vary. On the bike it's nice from 2-9 C, walking 10-15C. I think it would be way too hot for running on a mild 10C+ day.

Poked Albion to make something for mild weather and got a few suggestions but have a Patagonia Houdini air that I'll try first.

Looking at the Arc'teryx site and every hoody looks identical!

  • Don't do it. The Houdini is boil in a bag.

  • Edit sorry you said Houdini Air. No experience with that one.

  • I find using a hammer loop on work trousers can pull them down, or things like an impact driver hanging on a pocket when up a ladder have similar effect. But with dungarees the trousers can’t come down. Plus the bib can be useful for holding small tools, knife, pencils etc.

  • Atom would be too warm for a run imo even the sl - ok for relaxed bike riding. I’ve got lt and sl as well as the gilet

  • Fair. I’m almost literally never in any of those situations!

  • There's a bit of a cultural aspect to it as well.

In the US loads of trades wear them, so it doesn't seem odd seeing people in them.

  • Perfect thanks, seems like a good price so i've gone for it.

I heard the tip for running that you should dress for 10 degrees above the ambient temperature to counter heating up. Issue is i haven't run in a long time and will be taking dog with me so will be doing at least 10 minute walk either side to warm up and cool down so think this might work for the pace and distance i'll be covering.

  • If it's just short runs I wouldn't worry too much, just make sure you don't feel overdressed when you get out the door, rather the opposite.

  • You won't regret buying it as it's great!

I was in a singlet for yesterdays club session so Im probably not one to listen to ;p

  • P Franco is closing down!

  • Just accessing the fashion forum hive mind.

What are your thoughts on simple items like sweatshirts and hoodies that are manufactured in the UK and made from 100% organic cotton fabric knitted and dyed in the UK (cotton will be grown in the US).

They will only be sold in the UK, so trying to minimise the carbon footprint as much as possible (can also sell to the eco-conscious and Brexit-y markets!)

Oh, and it will be small batches made on demand, so you will need to wait ~4 weeks for your order. This eliminates any waste from over-production.

They will be quality products, made to last years rather than fast-fashion items. Trying to be as ethical and sustainable as possible whilst still producing new clothes.

Are people interested in such things?

  • Is this not very similar to community clothing (aware their stuff not 100% organic) so either suggests a market is there or indeed a competitor to distinguish against.

  • Very similar to HebTroCo too

  • I was going to say it feels similar to what Paynter Jackets do and they definitely seem to have created a market from it selling out pretty much on release.

can also sell to the ... Brexit-y markets!

    1st batch colours:

    • This is what we voted for Blue
    • A big Red £350m bus
    • Let them eat Turnip ombre
