  • The skid was well dusty..

  • Good lord. We've made a full loop haven't we.

  • "the bike never stops" 😎

  • now trying to remember the "fixie" videos from back in the day. Two that spring to mind were "stopless path" and the guy that went touring with a track pump in his messenger bag.

  • I had a go at playing the game with the group that include the Rolex AD here- received an email confirmation of being on the waiting list for the GMT, responded asking if I could get a black bay pro in the interim from them- and it immediately fell apart as whilst the Tudor AD is part of the group that is a different list, and you have to go in to see them in person and give them the same details the person telling you this already has.

Which makes me think maybe this isn’t how it works as they’re too chaotic and siloed and it’s not like you can buy anything else from the Rolex AD whilst you wait.

  • Someone who cannot stop. And doesn’t want to either.

  • Thanks, as per the info on the not-GMT that’s really helpful (plus reassuring that I’d not, completely, lost the plot)

  • IME of talking to people the Rolex list is separate from everything else and only Rolex purchases count towards your waiting list priority. Although it is ultimately up to the AD how they manage it. With Cartier I think they take jewellery purchases into account. Maybe Rolex ADs who also sell a lot of jewellery would do the same.

  • Selling this Squale 1521 militaire limited edition, also includes a genuine Tropic strap that’s a million time comfortable than the already comfortable Squale one (much more fitting to style of Watch)

Every time I pick it up I forget how beautifully made it is, and the bezel action is amazing but I do not wear it enough to justify it especially in a workshop that a Timex is needed.

Selling £450, can post or collection Catford.

  • When my good lady picked up her Rolex we had a sales pitch for £10/ 15k diamonds.
It was still a closed 3 year list for any sports watch

  • We look after people who look after us. It’s not about how many Rolex you buy. And you need to know people aren’t just going to flip.

  • Damn it! What did i miss!?!

  • 531 posting far too long posts basically digging us all out for buying things.
Was very disrespectful and made absolutely no point.
Got everyone's backs up and seems like he has been hit with the ban hammer (finally)

  • Sad I missed his last douchy post

  • A mix of massive chip on shoulder with a whiff of homophobia

  • This isn't my experience with WoS - have been able to get highly sought after watches from 2 different brands in less than 6m in the last year. One of those we had no history with. We created a profile about us and also have kept all of the watches. The range of brands was commented as a bonus.

  • It wasn’t worth the time, obvious low energy trolling that even admitted he was doing it to amuse himself.

Shame really as I was planning on offering to show him one of my fantasist James Bond watches in the flesh. Would have been no touching, mind

  • These are mine. The Skagen I have worn daily for the last 10 years and I absolutely love its simple understated face and how easy it is to read in all lights. Its movement went a couple of years ago and its replacement eats through batteries every 6 months instead of 3+ years, and there's a really annoying scratch at 9 o'clock. (Super hardened mineral crystal doesn't buff out easily). But I still really like it.

Having had a basic fitness band for a work step challenge, I did quite like being alerted to messages and the step counter stuff, but having to wait to see the screen light up was irritating. So the other one is a new compromise, a Kronaby (on eBay) and it's a grower. It's a bit flashier than the Skagen and it came with a metal bracelet which I've now swapped for a tan strap, but it's just right in terms of how 'smart' it is. Filtered notifications are limited just to a vibrate and one of 3 categories you have assigned, but that's enough for me. I've set it to display the steps with a press of the crown (although it tends to over estimate), two presses gets an adjustable countdown timer, mostly for haranguing slow reluctant children, one pusher triggers the camera/shutter release, and the other currently set to put the phone in silent mode, although there lots of things to choose from. All on a 2 year battery life, (with the biggest watch battery I have ever seen - 3 cm across) and just using the two watch hands. The face is relatively simple under a nice domed sapphire glass. It's made in China, not Sweden, and the inside does look considerably cheaper than the outside, but it's an interesting concept. Festina have taken over the company and are maintaining the app, so who knows the realistic lifetime, which I guess is the main risk with smart watches dependent on apps. Certainly worth looking out for some good deals if you are looking for that kind of thing. This one was £160 from an original of £350.

  • I honestly think the RRP is pretty good for the quality and design, wear much smaller than my 40mm Everest.

  • Anyone interested in this? Neat "Royal De Luxe" with glossy black dial and copper indicies/hands. 35mm, Hand wound. Incl cheap bracelet. £200 posted (from Sweden).

  • I went into WoS when looking for my Submariner and the salesman said I had basically zero chance of getting one, so I left.

Just to go straight to the Golf Club thread- I can afford the watch, I’m just disheartened by the opaque and silly games one has to play to get one. And the lack of consistency- I’m trying to play the (silly) game now and it’s not working.

  • Love this very much, especially the bracelet

  • Probebrly an unpopular opinion here, but it's a mugs game.

  • Yeah, I can agree in many ways. The desired outcome is to be able to buy something at retail, which is bonkers.

Maybe I should change my mind and get an Explorer II instead.
