• Dropping price and removed from ebay, I'd rather sell here if I can. This is sat around and I need it gone and the monies for a powdercoating gun!
NOW INCULDING TUBULAR WHEELSET with all-aluminium suntour freewheel mentioned below.
    now £500

    ALAN frame - 1981
I'd like this to go to somebody that will keep it together instead of breaking it for parts.
I got this directly from the first owner who raced it in the 80's and early 90's. He clearly had great taste and put together a lovely bike. It has barely been used and is in amazing condition - as you can see.
I've just given it a clean, fitted Vittoria Corsa G2 tyres (25C) and gone on one short ride. I think it deserves to be used more and taken to events. It's just a fraction too big for me and a shame to leave on the wall.
(the cables are original and could do with replacing really, although usable. I was just replacing the FD cable but hadn't in the pictures. This will be done)

These don't flex as much as people think. It rides extremely well, it's so good. It's also extremely light.

    Size:
    Seat tube 60cm CTC
    Top Tube: 59cm CTC
This just about fits me at 6ft with long legs. but I'd need a short stem and it's a bit of a reach.
This would suit somebody 6ft to 6'2", maybe 6'3" I'd say, with adjustment of stem length. Definitely not shorter than 6ft.
Frame condition - This is in amazing condition. The only marks to mention are on the downtube sticker - I assume from a lock. See pictures. No cracks or dents and replacement stickers are available.

Campagnolo 170mm Record strada chainset - amazing condition. Threads perfect.
    ROYCE chainrings - 42/52
    Shimano 600 6-speed freewheel - 20t largest
    Original Sachs chain
Campagnolo Super Record RD, titanium bolt upper and lower - pat '80 - Amazing condition, no marks
Campagnolo Record FD - very good condition
Downtube Shifters - I'm not 100% sure what these are, but the are very nice (edit thanks to Foreigner65 : Simplex SLJ downtube shifters)
Suntour Superbe brakeset, calipers and levers - Levers have campagnolo gum colour hoods - still rubbery and not cracking, some slight marks to the outside of levers. Calipers still have original superbe blocks and are unmarked apart from a couple of the nuts have a bit of corrosion.
    Campagnolo Record seatpost - 25mm
Campagnolo Record Strada Pedals - really lovely condition.
Alfredo Binda Toe Straps - original and leather in amazing condition, no cracks. Buckles have some light corrosion but I think this will come off. I haven't tried.
Cinelli Unicanotor - VERY RARE SL Superleggera version with aluminium 'wishbone' rails. This has a couple of white spots on the leather that I think could be cleaned off. No rips. Very slight wear on one edge.
Cinelli Campione Del Mondo bars 66-42
Cinelli stem - 125mm - slight corrosion to front bolt, could clean up. Some scratches to the top.
MAVID open4CD rims on Campagnolo record hubs - These are pretty MINT, anodised brake track barely touched. Hubs spin like new, no corrosion to spokes or nipples. Beautiful wheels.
    BB - Campagnolo
    Headset - Campagnolo record
    - some slight corrosion but I think this will clean off 99%.
Original bar tape - sorry, I quite like original bar tape :)
Vittoria Corsa G2 25c tyres - essentially new, 2 miles old.

    I'm looking for £700 ono - NOW £600 - now £500 with extra wheelset
I don't want to break this for parts.

I also have an optional (NOW INCLUDED) Suntour Micro-lite Duraluminium 6 speed freewheel (MINT and 200g) mounted to GP4 tubular rims and record hubs - original 19c tubular tyres hold air but don't ride too far on them! Some slight corrosion here and there, they aren't mint but very lightly used. I think they'd clean up VERY well. They would be a great thing to keep with this bike for lightweight RACE MODE! This would be an extra £120 - the cassette is worth 80% of that I'd say.

I'm based in Norwich, but could meet in Harlow or East London near the A12 if I have a deposit or paid in advance.
    I won't post this, sorry.

  • Simplex SLJ down tube shifters. Lovely bike. GLWS

  • Ah thanks. They seem nicer than campag ones. The original owner seemed to know what parts he wanted and put together a great bike.
    Thanks.

  • Best ever nonindexed shifters lightweight and precise, used by many of pros in their heydays.
    More about them here https://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/classic_components/simplex-retrofriction-levers/

  • Nice! These seem to be the unusual versions without Simplex branding.
I need to stop fetishising these parts though... that's how I got to this point of having too many. Ha.

  • Not that unusual, they were often used by other brands, sometimes with brand naming on, sometimes not. Galli springs to mind, they used them with their gruppo for an example. And many more I believe. I have two pairs (actually 2 1/2 to be precise 🙂) myself with no branding on them.

  • Aaah :)
I was only going off the classic lightweights text, as you say, they were produced for a third party it seems.

  • Properly cool this, love the superbe brakes. GLWS!

  • Thanks. I'm sad to be selling it.
It appears more marked and dirty in the pictures. Standing next to it it looks pretty flawless.
The pedals could do with a rub with some autosol and you could get carried away polishing the lugs if you wanted. It should be used more though, it's too nice to ride to be left on a wall.

  • Dropping the price once to £600 before moving elsewhere at a higher price or splitting on auction site.
    Thanks

  • This is really nice. How did people ride comfortably before decent hoods though?

  • 42/20🤮

  • I just sit ontop, the drops or slightly on the top/sides, then shimmy forward for braking :)

  • Ha. 42/20 is ok for a Sunday cruise and occasional push up an incline isn't it?

  • now £500 ono. Grab yourself a boyhood dream spec iconic early 80's bike.
NOW INCLUDING THE TUBULAR WHEELSET MENTIONED AT THE TOP with the Suntour Micro-lite Duraluminium 6 speed freewheel - These all-aluminium jobs sell for £80-150 alone.
The only thing it doesn't have is a titanium axle BB.

    Need the space and monies.
