Any brake that is sufficient to lock up your wheels without requiring the grip strength of a gorilla is good enough
To a point, when I've had cable discs in the past they've been fine, I can stop without too many issues better than a lot of bikes, but when you're smashing it down unsuitable paths with a week's worth of shit strapped to your bike it's easy to brake from the hoods with little effort with hydros compared to getting achey hands from squeezing hard or using the drops for more leverage when I don't want to with cables, that adds up after a few days and my hands and wrists are bad already, plus I don't need to dial the pads in ever.

Going for £1300-1500 2nd-hand full build GRX

I've got one of those, it's got V brakes, but I'm not touring on it on roads that looked kinda OK on Google maps.

Funny breed, the aggressive Hydro Protectors.
-
• #26833
Ha, nowt aggressive, cable discs are fine, but trying to pretend they're as good as hydraulic, especially when you're spending more on them, is silly.

Cheap, piss easy to set up, always work, huge tyre clearance, extremely powerful, no fluids, no rub, no added weight. Get fancy cables and housing if you want a better ‘feel’.

NCN1 SFAB Superhighway (that another set of pads DOA. It doesn’t matter what type of brakes you have. If there’s no actual pad left and you’re just riding on the carrier)
If you are wondering, my socks and laces are tic tax orange and lime respectively.

Speed Dial Black Ops levers + any parallel push V-brakes + Koolstop pads = still the GOAT

Would you mind sending me the screenshot as well? Thanks. :-)

True. Flat bar V-brake setup is the best.

I am looking at Growtac Equal brakes on my Pass Hunter, it's either them or BB7s, to replace the full hydraulic TRP Hylex I've got currently.
Main advantage is to annoy people who have strong views on what brakes other people use.
Wonder if £100 per caliper from Blue Lug ends up being double that after taxes.

Have you considered cantilevers?

About to buy a set of these for another bike, your views please

Met @Tom13 at a local "gravel" ride which was more SFAB tbf... I don't know how I stayed rubber down the entire time with zero grip for 80% of the ride!
Spacehorse is a great all road bike... Very much a keeper <3
Tom's sweet fade ssmtb was dreamy also.
My pals 90s GT corrado was the only rim braked bike of the event and really stole the show....

Has anyone ridden a Canyon Grail CF SL 8? When looking at the geometry compared to my current bike it seems as though the

Reach is measured as the distance between a vertical line from the centre of the bottom bracket to a vertical line from the centre of the head tube. The handlebars don't come into it.

Understood - so based on the below the canyon will be over 7cm longer reach than my CAAD….seems like quite a lot

I’m glad you and the space horse have found each other. It’s good when you just click.
Klamper, Magura rotor and Yokozuna Reaction compressionless is a winning combination.
The majority of issues is really down to cable housing.
