fixed will take some getting used to
You'll be OK for a week, then you'll think you've got it and will stop pedalling. People generally do this only once, because either the first time is fatal or they learn never to do it again 😀

This isn't my first time riding fixed gear, I've been and done that phase! So I'm not a total noob but I do fear I will forget mid ride!

Sloooowly getting there with this, but I’m keen to see it with a silver seatpost and stem before I declare myself satisfied.

What's the current road fixed hub/wheel of choice? Picked up a cheap frame today with track ends so the trusty WI eno hub will be be carefully stored.

I'm a fan of the DT Swiss track hub although I haven't run them long enough to opine on durability.

Just get the correct axle for the White and store the eccentric axle?

Now I am confused! Can I remove the revolving bit? Google beckons.

Yep. Follow the servicing instructions to remove the eccentric axle. Swap a straight axle in and add appropriate endcaps for the width of dropouts. Tim at Sideways Cycles will probably have the bits if you email him. He sorted me out some 130mm endcaps recently.

Ideal.. might as well get some new bearings too.

Sounds like you got it sorted. And should be cheaper than a new wheel by a bit

Do we allow forward facing dropouts?
Been using this one for Audax this year - pretty happy with it.

Do we allow forward facing dropouts?
Of course, this is "road fixed", not "track bikes on the street"

Nice job but do you find the Mafac brakes a little tardy when riding in company?
-
• #2346
That’s super smart, I always find I need a harder gears with audax otherwise I can’t sit down properly while spinning.

Gave it a quick clean, new chain and a new not-as-worn-as-the-last-front-wheel, wheel.
Tipped at 7.4kg.

Back riding after 6 months with only very occasional riding for the previous 2 years. It’s going to be all fair weather from now on. My days of toughing it out are over.

Looking great, is that a 0 degree Easton?

Yup, was a touch too low for anything over 50km
First proper ride today... I say proper, I mean to go get a coffee and some fresh beans from a local roaster.
Riding fixed will take some getting used too but overall its okay!
