GA2G - I can see what you are saying. I'm fairly new to the bay but the chancer with a quarter shipping container of stock are quite apparent. Your criteria is interesting given that Wiggle does not have a store I can call in at but do have a warehouse. To that end what's the difference with a sole trader selling from his garage? I appreciate the reputation is part of it but they all started somewhere. The eBay criteria of trusted seller seems to be their answer to the trust issue of fly by night small operators so perhaps this is something that could be taken into account? If a trader has 60k+ sales and 98%+ feedback and no shop would you still consider them a flight risk?
Personally I think it's a bit of a case by case issue. High on Bikes has there own site and a registered office on a trading estate so I would guess qualify under the criteria you set out. But then given that the whole on-line thing is to get away from the overhead of having a shop and passing on the savings it's a real minefield in terms of a hard definition.
I'll still be using my LBS for parts of this build (I can't justify the tools to fit headsets or face a BB) but at the same time I'm on a tight budget so have to make use of the offers when I see them, be they on ebay or a well known site.

Fixed&Broken, when I started the lists, one thing that people found out 3 years ago, was that the lists were of things that were of pertinence to me. Yes, I have modified some to take in other viewpoints, but in the main, I have created, and sometimes updated them, and if people find them useful....fine. What I haven't done is apply straw-poll politik to them, ie. pander to many other viewpoints. I am not the only person that has created lists here, and everyone is welcome to do their own, and several have.
I won't argue the toss about how this list could be made to better suit you I'm afraid. Please consider creating lists that you are happy with, and publish them on the forum. Obviously, they will never make everyone happy. Its just the way things are.

Fixed. You're slipping. :)

Firstly I'd like to thank you for the efforts you make in maintaining the lists, having maintained similar knowledge bases within a work context I appreciate the time involved. The locks thread in particular is one of the best go-to resources on the subject and contains some great insight.
It certainly wasn't my intention to get your back up, just to clarify the content of the list and perhaps provoke a little debate around it. If that's how you want to maintain it then it's your prerogative as the originator of it, however you yourself note that you've modified them on feedback from others before and that there has been an evolution.
I don't see any point in having two lists on what is the basically the same subject as it just confuses users. This is why I raise the issue rather than just starting my own.
This is still a very good list and stands on it's own merits regardless.

Avoid Shinybikes.
Ordered a Handlebar, for which they debited by account. Rang them up five days later to be told they hadn't got it in stock, and that they should of rung me to tell me this. Yes you should of !
Morale of the story - Only order from retailers who have stock levels on their website

+1
House mate also had a very bad time with them in the last month.

I ordered some tyres from them (Michelin Pro 3 Race getting discounted everywhere because version 4 is out) and had a very good experience. Extremely prompt delivery the next day.

Has anyone used bike-discount.de before? I've done a bunch of searching but can't find anything specific to the store.
-
• #160
I've used bikediscount.de on a couple of occasions. They use DHL and items are with you within 3-5 days.
Order from them with confidence. :)

Has anybody had bad experience with Tredz ? More than a month after my first order which I have not received yet, this isn't really a success so far despite one or two sporadic emails from them...

Not very impressed with Rutland at the moment.
Everything looks to be in stock so I ordered Tuesday morning and they take the payment immediately. Today I get an email saying part of my order is out of stock and won't be in for a while. I chose a substitution but that was also out of stock - it turns out there is only one type of thing that I want in stock, out of about 15 choices on their website.
Whoever I was dealing with was polite and helpful but it seems pretty underhand to advertise things you don't have and then take payment immediately. Not to mention the delay in letting me know what was going on... -

I'm not sure what's going on with Rutland. Are they closing down or something? I noticed they've pulled their affiliate stuff from one of the networks, and I'm wondering whether they're in trouble and in a slow unravelling.

• #166
Well interestingly, when I was told which version was in stock they sent me a link to their ebay store instead of the main site. I don't know what it means but the slowness is enough for me to not go back anyway!

Anyone used these guys > BUY BIKE BITS
Are they legit?
Price on a crankset I want seems to good to be true.

• #168
Probably a one-man business, like so many others. It's a registered company, and the address is legit..

Props to http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk who phoned me this morning to say the freehub I'd ordered has a scratch on it, and as it was the last one they would knock money off if I still wanted it. Just seen that they're couriering it for delivery tomorrow too. Top notch!

@GA2G are you still updating this list? Could we have
https://www.formbycycles.co.uk/
https://www.tritoncycles.co.uk/
added please?

Looking to buy a frame. Can either get from singletrack bikes, or Westbrook cycles.
Anyone used them? Are either recommended or otherwise??
Could also go triton but return terms aren’t as good.

are you still updating this list?
He was last active on the forum in July 2020, so I doubt it.
I hope he's doing well.
There also seems to be no definite line between a proper shop, using EBay for extra income, and a individual seller. Tis all a bit fuzzy.
